My husband needs this on the farm constantly. This can be used for many things though. You can use this for fencing, electrical wires, heavy cable, etc.. The ratcheting helps save the struggle of having to pull while you cut.

Nice to have around!

This makes cutting cable way easier and faster than using a grinder or any other tool. We don’t need to use it very often, but it’s definitely nice to have on hand.

Quick and easy

First time I have used a ratcheting cable cutter. It is almost like cuttting butter. Cuts very nicely with minimum wrist pressure. I won`t use my old cutters anymore.

I picked this ratcheting cable cutter up to replace an older tool I have. It was missing the release latch parts, something I wont be concerned with now as this Southwire unit has a simple, integral quick-release lever that opens the blade at anytime during operation. Its not held on by snap clips which could allow it to come loose and become lost like I'd experienced. Cutter did the job for me.

These heavy-duty cable cutters did the job I needed them to do. Used them to cut the plug off a 3/4 inch copper cable. Was done in less than a minute. Cut was smooth and quick. Very satisfied with the results.

Good cable cutter

This is a heavy duty wire cutter. Seems a bit bulky at first but does fit in my hands. It takes a little getting used to opening it and placing blade around wire(s). I started out cutting #2 copper and it cut real easy. I then went to 4/0 copper and it was a little harder to squeeze the handles together, but it did cut smoothly. I then went to 500MCM copper. Good tool

The Southwire ratcheting cable cutter arrived in perfect condition. Although squeezing the handles, pushing the release and releasing the swing arm seemed cumbersome. Upon starting to cut #6 3 with ground the tool cut through easily. I found the same ease cutting # 2 aluminum wire. I was unaware #6 overhead wire suspension cable had a steel core. Handy tool

Extremely easy to use and comfortable in the hand. Insulated and soft handles make the cutter simple. The release is a bit finicky to actuate but no major issues

Beast of a cutter!

Excellent cutter for those large copper and aluminum cables. If you have struggled to get through anything beyond 12-2 romex in the past, that struggle is over. This cutter easily moved through #2 aluminum with a very clean cut. As it states on the tool, do not attempt to cut steel cable! The ratcheting mechanism takes a little practice to reset, but they have wisely inscribed the instructions on the handle as a reminder.
