What Customers Are Saying
The Polymeric Jointing Sand product received mixed reviews. While some found it a good temporary solution for filling gaps between pavers, many noted it does not hold up well over time and can wear away quickly, especially with heavy foot traffic or weather exposure. The sand is easy to apply, but several customers reported it did not fully harden as promised, and large amounts were washed away after heavy rain. The product seems to work well for some applications, but has limitations in terms of long-term performance and weatherproofing.

I read a lot of reviews about people being upset about this product and how it wasn't what they expected so I went in skeptical. I can say that after my project went perfectly smooth there must have been steps that were either skipped or executed poorly. First off, the product looks great and after activation it is very firmly holding my pavers in place. I am so pleased with how it worked out. Secondly, it was very easy to work with and it was easier than I expected. I feel I have to address...

Does this ever set up firm???
Followed directions to the T..Watered it well (carefully but thorough without washing it out) 3 to 4 times then let it set for 2 weeks, no walking on it covered ;first class job and looked great... 72 hours after using this during 50s temperatures the temps went down with expected rain so I covered it protecting it from possible washout from a heavy rain or anything else with the good visqueen elevated off the pavers for good air flow for over 2 weeks. removed the visqueen after all this and it ...
Just another step in the process
First, water blast your stones clean. let it dry for a few days. apply what is called a stone enhancer. this brings back the color and vibrance of the stones or bricks. the stuff I used was in a blue bottle. You can get it from a masonry store or the web, after you enhanced your stones, you should seal them with a brick sealer or concrete sealer. this is a must because if you dont seal it before applying the sand, it will cake into your brick and you will have white spots like many have claimed....
Same product code -- DIFFERENT COLOR!!
Caution!! this is NOT the same as the earlier version of Sakrete Paver Set Brown/Tan polymeric sand previously sold by Lowe's. I put down a brick paver walkway about 5 years ago, using Sakrete Paver Set Brown/Tan polymeric sand that was sold in a round, black pail. I was very happy with those results. However, after five years of rain, sun, ants, and general wear and tear, I power washed the pavers, which removed some of the set sand -- actually, I was surprised at how much was still firm and ...
Patio Pavers
1st thing it is a very very fine sand so I started to 1/4 fill my joints with my extra basic base sand so I could stretch how far this went. Application was pretty easy. the instructions made it seem intimidating that if you mess up you will have Discoloration all over your stones. it comes out like very very fine sand. you can eaisly level it by running your finger over the grout line. then I just held my LeafBlower at a 70 degree angle and did a small burst to clear off the stones. in areas wi...
worked well for me, color was off
coming to you from surprise AZ NOV 10, 2019 temp has been in the 80-90 degree range .im only giving this 4 stars because the color really wasn't what the packaging made it seem it would be. However the color was not bad just not what I was expecting. besides that, this stuff is very easy to use and sets up very hard. the best joint width to utilize is a quarter inch , that's what I found gave me the best results. I also used a skinny 10" long funnel with a 1/4" opening to apply the sand in betwe...
Not happy with product at all. Reconsider.
My wife and I designed and laid out a 210ft2 paver patio, which was made with 16x16 pavers. All went well and I researched this product, which looked like the way to go. We followed the instructions to a tee...poured the buckets out evenly, spread it using small stroked to not displace the polymer, blew off excess with leaf blower and applied water as instructed. Within 24 hours it looked very nice, but about 1 week later we saw that ant burrows were appearing on the surface. They were getting t...
Waste of my time and effort
After some research I decided to take on a big project of laying out about 550 sqft concrete pavers patio. As recommended we started off with 3” of quarry dust blend as base 1 with 1” of concrete sand as leveling material on top of it. Next we laid out 1’ x 1’ concrete pavers. Per instructions we interleaved about 0.1-0.2” gap between the pavers. We poured the Sakrete Polymeric Sand on dry clean pavers’ surface. We taped on the pavers to compact the material into the joints and removed excess po...

Changed the sand with new packaging.
I just completed a large 14'x40' patio. I had purchased 6 of the 40lb buckets last fall. The packaging then was in a round black container. I ran out of the old sand so I purchased 2 more buckets of this sand in the square container. It had the same UPC code and make by SAKRETE so I assumed it would be the same. Immediately upon using I noticed the texture of the sand was different and a slightly different color but not enough to matter. After filling all paver joints, compacting and wetti...
The formula has not changed, only the packaging. The sands change because the vein that it is mined from can change. We do not make the sand for this...

Not staying hard
I used this product even after reading the reviews. I had seen a review that stated that the negative reviews were because people weren't using the product right. So I read what he had written and watched a youtube video and everything. It was easy to use and I lightly watered it and then waited 15 mins and watered it again. Everything was going great. It harden up and I was like yes, I did it right. Everything was great for a week and a half until we go our first rain and then that really ...
