What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the valve's reliability, durability, and effective water shutoff performance, with most confirming it works exactly as designed and maintains tight seals under pressure. Many highlight its solid construction and long-term performance across demanding applications like irrigation and pool systems. However, a notable concern is the excessive force required to turn the handle—some describe it as nearly impossible without tools or multiple people. Reviewers suspect over-application of cement during installation causes jamming, and several advise testing valves before purchase. Despite this operational challenge, most customers consider it a dependable, well-made solution.

PVC Ball Valve
The other reviews are not wrong. Some of the valves will be extremely difficult to turn (to the point that you think you may break the handle). I would really recommend buying this in store where you can get your hands on it and cycle the valves before buying to make sure you aren't getting ones that are REALLY bad. (Of the ~10 on the shelf, at least 3 were REALLY tight right in the store, one caused me to scare another shopper when it flew out of my hands as I tried to turn it) Of the three th...
Very HARD To Turn...But There IS a Cure!
I have used a number of these 1" valves over the years. Some work great...some are so tight that it is next to impossible to turn them. While trying to apply some type of lube may help a bit...but after it is in use for a while it will, once again, be almost impossible to turn. However...There is a CURE for this problem if you have no choice (convenience or otherwise) and must use this valve. Before installing it, drop it into a pot of boiling water for a couple of minutes. Then pull it out...
DO NOT BUY!!!
I write reviews that are a sub 0 or over 5. Before buying, i saw a review that said difficult to turn. Wish I listened. I did a bunch of complicated -plumbing for a new pool fountain that cannot be undone by just removing this valve. Once it was all in place, I had to turn the valve bc the main fountain had too much water relative to the others. i tried EVERYTHING to make it turn. Eventually it broke off. I am so frustrated. Do NOT waste your time. So mad.

Ball Valve difficult to turn
I purchased this valve and installed it for a pool overflow waste line. After the installation it was so hard to turn I thought I would break the pipe so it was removed.
These don't last like brass but they are easy!
Always reliable. No issues. Project went together smoothly as always. Make sure to use the correct cement for PVC and wait the cirrect amount of time before putting into service. Make sure to follow instructions regarding the amount of cement to use!
Hard to open and close, flimsy.
Do not waste your time and money! This valve is Hard to turn on/off, even with lubrication. Also flimsy--the handle broke less than a month after install (so about 15 on-off cycles), and when it broke, the valve packing came out and water water everywhere!
Impossible to turn
I bought three of these 2 inch valves. Of the three two are almost impossible to turn. I found out after they were installed so I'm sure I will be paying someone to replace them soon. It's just a matter of time for the handle to break. These are junk.
VERY tight seal
The only thing I'd like to see changed is the force it takes to open and close this valve. Requires a lot of muscle power to turn the knob. Most samples in the store bin are virtually impossible to turn. I don't consider myself a weakling but I've found only one (in two separate Lowe's locations) of a dozen that is mildly hard to operate, but tolerable at least. The others practically require a pipe wrench or a "cheater bar" to turn the valve handle.
Hard to open and close
These were extremely hard to open and close, even with WD-40. Even after opening and closing several times, it still required some light hammering and a vice grip to open. The smaller ones work a lot better.
