What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise these pipe wrenches for exceptional durability, with many reporting decades of daily use without failure. Users consistently highlight superior grip from sharp jaw teeth that prevent slippage even under extreme torque and harsh conditions. Professional tradespeople—plumbers, mechanics, and oilfield workers—express strong brand loyalty, often passing tools to younger colleagues. The design maintains integrity after years of heavy abuse and cheater bar use. A small number report isolated failures or warranty concerns, but most consider these exceptions. Overall, reviewers regard these wrenches as lifetime investments that justify their cost through unmatched reliability and performance.

I bought a 48-inch pipe wrench some time ago. In less than a year, it broke during use. The usage was not improper, which is why I am surprised—especially since it is from a top brand. My work is in the oilfield; we are an oil services company, and I work in the DST department. Could you please clarify why this might have happened? I was confident when I purchased this brand that it would last for a long time.

Ridgid 836 36" Aluminum Pipe Wrench
Good pipe wrench for years until housing cracked/collasped. Despite the wrench sticker saying it has a lifetime warranty on the housing Ridgid has made it impossible to register the tool for a warranty claim. And they have ignored my requests to elevate the matter. Other brands honor their warranty in any location sold near you. At their price point they should last a lifetime.

I am a professional pipefitter. On my side work l use the pipe wrenches l inherited from my dad who used them for his side work. My dad inherited the wrenches from my grandfather who used them too. Never have these wrenches ever failed. It just occurred to me these tools could be 100 years old. The still work perfectly. The company l work for buys new Ridgid pipe wrenches as the company grow and gets more work. There is no differance between the appearance and quality of the new wrenches w...

Heavy Duty but size listed is misleading
I just purchased the 60 inch model. It is very heavy duty and well built but the length of the handle to the lower jaw is 43 inches. The overall length, with the jaw fully extended is only 53 5/8 inches. Not even close to the 60 inches they advertise.

Warranty is no good
Bought a 8” pipe wrench quite a few years ago. I didn’t use it a lot and the lower jaw broke. I call customer support and was told it’s not warranty without all the pieces of the lower jaw. So much for lifetime warranty! Don’t waste your money

60” straight wrench
Can you kindly make the hook jaw available without the handle. As drilling company, the hook jaw goes bad after long use. The handle stays as is. So the only part needed is the jaw only.

Built to last
I inherited a ridged pipe wrench from my uncle that had to be twenty or thirty years old… as far as I’m concerned it’s better than new. The thing is like a rock. Ive leveraged a 8 foot tube on it before probably a few tons of pressure and the thing isn’t even slightly crooked. Very robust
