Screws to fasten top to lamp too big

It’s always disappointing to purchase something that you think is going to be an improvement but ends up being more work than it’s worth. We had an electrician come out and install this lamp. The screws that are supposed to secure the top of the lamp to the lamp are too big to thread into the holes. Can’t very well uninstall it and return it. Called customer service as directed in the instructions. They had to reach out to the manufacturer. Still waiting for a response.
