pin's and key's
5 stars because it did work great - BUT - I was under the impression that I could use this kit to change the lock to one of MY OWN keys. After thinking about it the kit would have to have LOTS of different sized pins in order to use a custom key. And it makes sense why it came with keys because the pins work fine with those keys. I took a gamble and resized the pins my self so they fit my key of choice. It went great. not 100% but great. If I took more time sanding I could of done a better...

Kwikset kit with Schlage instructions
I used to do relays at a competitor hardware store before getting into the trades so I know a Schlage set when I see one. Schlage kits come with 21 pins, this has 5. The store I went to didnt have anyone available to rekey the lock I purchased so I got this kit due to time constraints. The cylinslder they provide to slide the pin springs over has a square edge, which I had to carve a point into so the springs didnt catch. The pins that came with it didnt have the right sizes. Will not work - BUYER BEWARE!
I opened my kit up to find directions for Schlage locks, but the keys that were included were for Kwikset locks and the pins are the wrong length and diameter. Since they only supply 5 of the 10 varieties of pins you can't re-key a lock to an existing key. Very disappointing product.

finally one key for the house!
I bought the kit a few days ago, now have one key that fits all four deadbolt locks around my house. Note that all were Schlage, and I had a key for each one before I rekeyed it. If you don't have a key that works now, not sure this kit will work! This was an issue for one of my locks, but luckily had a spare due to installing a new lock set. I didn't watch the video, but used the included instructions. Good idea to read them first. First lock took awhile, second lock took only five minute...

It works, but it's a challenging job
Took DH hours to re-key two deadbolt locks. Instructions are clear; there are just many tiny parts to assemble. The two re-keyed locks lock and unlock smoothly.
