I'd bought this awhile ago in store for a great display model discount. Price had me skeptical, but I figured I'm not a contractor just need to do some rough cuts on 2x4s and 1 1/4 in. pvc. Handled those easily, what made me come back to write this review was this past weekend 4/7/19; Building a garden box for the wife and I had a 4x4 I was making the post legs out of. I don't have a circular saw so I figured why not try, if I mess up one side it'll get buried in the dirt and I can level it ...
Extremely Dangerous Machine-Has A Fatal Flaw!!!!!
I bought this at Lowe's for work around the yard, like cutting down limbs. Have a chain saw but those are such a pain and really overkill for 2" limbs. The saw works very well on limbs up to 5-6 inches and I did use it for cutting down metal chain link fence posts and it also worked well, but be aware, it has a fatal flaw. It does not have a safety button that must be pressed before pulling the trigger for the saw to work. The trigger is basically part of the handle, like almost all reciproca...
gets the job done
My ryobi quit after 2 years the blade attachment part rusted shut. I replaced with this porter cable. Cutting 4 in and 2 in cast iron pipe. Abs pipe and wood or nails. Basically I replaced a 1930s sewer system using this ex posing it to metal, water mud. I used this to make and rough in a window. Just get the right blades for the the task/material you are cutting. It takes all blade brands, they all fit dewault, Milwaukee etc. have abused this tool since its so cheap and it keeps going. Onl...
I totally an thrilled I bought this
Purchase dt: 2.21.2018... Being a female who does work all kinds of projects. My skill saw died after 20+ years. I have no chain saw, but I have other saws, miter saw, scroll saw, jig saw, etc. Whelp, I needed something I could use for multi purposes so I read up, headed to my Lowe's and spoke to one of my ex-co workers in the tool dept. about a different saw that had more amps. With his advice I bought this one... and it took me about 20 mins to cut down 3 crape myrtles down to a stump and all ...
Disappointing UPS service.
To Whom It May Concern, I received my order, a Porter Cable Reciprocating Saw yesterday afternoon at 5 pm, 12/27/16. I discovered my package left by the UPS driver behind a fence which is behind my mailbox, (no gate, the package was at an open end of the fence). We live in the country and my mailbox is approximately 525 feet away from my house. Is it normal for a UPS driver to leave a package in such an insecure location?! Doesn’t UPS hire professional drivers? What’s the problem delivering my p...
Great price, excellent product
I have never owned a similar saw, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems like a very well-built and high-quality tool. I was digging a trench for a French drain and kept hitting large roots. I tried to saw them by hand but it was slow going, so I ran over to my local Lowes and found this. It cut through roots up to about 4 inches in diameter in seconds. It feels very solid and I expect it will last me many years. The variable speed is controlled by pressure on the trigger. The t...
Good, Light Design BUT doesn't hold blade
I don't usually return tools/products, but this tool failed me a couple of times. I used the blade that came with the tool to but down a couple of studs for a window I was building in an existing wall, but the blade kept ejecting from the tool and I had to summon the power of Thor to pry the stuck blade out of a halfway cut stud. I ran and bought a Dewalt 6" blade hoping that would resolve the issue, but it didn't, and it kept failing on me. I've had better luck with a Chicago Electric tool from...
Very Surprised at the Power of this thing
This is a great tool. I was surprised how cheap it was, yet very powerful and effective. This tool does what it was designed to do and does it well. No complaints so far. I’ve used other ac reciprocating saws and battery operated versions and this is the most powerful one I’ve used so far. I’ve read through some of the other comments and just have to say that if you don’t know how to use this tool please read the manual that came with it and be safe. There is no shame in it - if you don’t know ...
Great Saw
So far this has saved me well. Used it this week to help me with a shower and deck at our trailer. Easy to use and had enough power for my uses. Even cut so tree roots with it. Made it an easier time for sure. Blade changing was very easy with just a thumb and fingers. Lightweight and just plain enjoyable to use. I thought about cordless but am over charging batteries or forgetting to charge them. Most of the time I am around an outlet or have an extension cord. This is my fourth Porter Cable pr...
Very nice saw. I have several Porter-Cable tools and have always have had good luck with them. This saw is a good size for me, not very big and easy to handle. I used the saw to cut nails off from underneath decking. You will need to buy metal cutting blades because they only give you a wood cutting blade.
