Snippers do not work correctly

I don't like the fact that as soon as you snip something the little tab slides and locks the snippers. This is very inconvenient and I have yet to figure out what I might be doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is perfect for flower arrangement.

It is very nice and sharp. Easy to hold as well. The blade is not so big.
