Great router but the wrong diameter

The other blue trim router is 64.75mm OD, this one is 65.8 (or maybe 65.75). Doesn't sound like much but for CNC used this means that 65mm spindle adapters and accessories (think dust boots) don't fit. I have this on a Sainsmart 4040, it could be forced into their adapter. I have several of the other ones on different CNC routers and never had a problem with size. My dust boot had to be modified with a sanding drum to fit, voiding its warranty. Maybe it'll fit on an MPC but elsewhere not so...

Great little router, but not quite perfect.

This is a nice little trim router. It has a powerful motor, but is still pretty quiet for a router. It supports ER-11 collets for hobby CNC use, and Lowe’s advertising markets specifically to this use case. It’s a tight fit in my 65 mm mount for my Genmitsu 4040-PRO CNC, but others have had issues with fit because the unit is a tad over 65 mm in diameter. That’s the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Good router but not optimal for CNC

I purchased this router based on the Lowe's/Kobalt statement that it was ER-11 ready for CNC makers using end mills. I have a CNC routing machine and this router will not fit into the optional 65mm spindle bracket that came with my machine, which is supposed to be used with a separate trim router. Variable Speed Dial

I bought this router to supplement my Busch trim router. Right out of the box, I plugged it in and turned it on with the speed dial already set to maximum speed (35K). I immediately noticed that the speed fluctuated. I attempted to turn the dial further into the maximum range, thinking I had not already done so, and I noticed that it was already at its maximum setting. Perfect for hobby CNC

I installed this as the spindle for my Sainsmart Genmitsu 4040-PRO CNC router. It fit the Sainsmart 65mm adapter snugly, but it did slide right in. It's pretty quiet for a trim router at the recommended speed setting 1 or 2 that's recommended for CNC use. The owner's manual provides approximate RPM for each speed setting, which is very helpful. I got a lemon

Brand new, motor spun up to full speed regardless of speed setting, then shut itself off, no doubt for overload protection. Neither Kobalt or Lowes had no replacements in stock or in warehouse, so I got a refund. Bummed I wasn't able to keep or replace but credit to Lowes for refunding with no hassle.

Awesome trim router for the price!

I picked this up on a clearance that was just too good to pass. I have a bosch colt that has been a go-to but I have to say this thing is pretty awesome. The 1/8th" collet, dust shroud, larger subbase, and edge guide are all really nice features to come out of the box. It's a shame these didn't seem to sell well, I do hope to see these come back in stores and I hope Kobalt/Lowes will give them another shot!

Ideal for my CNC machine

This router comes with both 1/8" and 1/4" collets, on top of that the shaft is fully compatible with ER-11 A collets from 1mm to 7mm. Soft start is easy on the machine, and the RPM range is amazing. When not using it on the CNC it also comes with the vacuum dust port. Most other Routers charge extra for that. Helps to keep it clean while you are making a mess.

Used on my CNC

I used this to upgrade the stock spindle on my vasto CNC router. A few hours into using it now and it is as good as I've ever used. It has a soft start, which is great because I turn my dust collector on the same time as the router and without soft start I'm much more likely to trip the breaker. The ER-11 collets (1/8in and 1/4in) are PERFECT. this is how all routers should be.

Router for cnc

I bought this router as an upgrade for my Two Trees TTC450 cnc router. It was a little too big for the 65mm mount I used. I had to open up the mount on my drum sander. Other than that, it is very quiet and powerful. Running a .125 depth cut was no problem. I look forward to my next project going much faster than the stock spindle could handle.
