Shockingly good
I was cautiously optimistic based on a sympathetic review by Rex Krueger and good customer ratings here. Well, it was nearly perfect out of the box. With no honing at all, it was taking the finest shavings I've ever achieved. The casting is not quite square, which rules out use on a shooting board without some major effort, but for a budget hand plane, I could not be happier.
