I bought this on clearance ($5) since they were coming out with a new model. I water proofed them and placed them on my gates outside. I tried using a different one outside but it did not work reliable. I set it up using Alexa to notify me when my gate opens and closes. I would buy more if I could find them.

Very reliable door sensor

I have a Samsung Smartthings hub in my home and several different Z-wave and Zigbee, door sensors, lights and wall switches. The installation was easy with provided two side tape or screws. The sensor or itself is not small, and after installation is visible from the distance,however it has been working flawlessly for the last few months. Whenever you open/close the door, you will get notification instantly.

Pairs with Wink well, quick response

Bought a bunch of these on sale and have paired them with my Wink Hub 2. Easily set up, though you need to pair them near your hub location and THEN install them for it to pair quickly first time. Nice form factor. I was even able to mount these in a porch on regular storm windows and have an automation set up to remind me to close them when it rains. Works great with Wink Hub2

I found these on sale at my local Lowes and bought 6 of these bad boys. They work great with Wink Hub 2 pairing right up and reporting both door/window status AND temperature. I'm not sure how long these sensors were in storage prior to my purchasing them, or how long ago the original battery was manufactured- but 2 of my sensors had failed batteries within 6 months of using them. 6 out the 10 sensors connected flawlessly and have stayed connected to my SmartThings hub for the last 48 hours. 3 would not connect at all and one connected but would not stay connected to SmartThings. I went for the more expensive Iris sensor because by all accounts it was rated as the most reliable by the SmartThings community. So I’m just 60% satisfied!

Great with Wink 1st generation hub

I tried Wink sensors first since I have a wink hub, but found them to be very unreliable and provided many false readings (would often show the door as being open when it was closed). I bought one of the Iris sensors to see if they would be any better. I now have 3. They have been very reliable and the temperature sensor is a nice added bonus. I had a little trouble hooking one of them up (I’m not very tech savy), but once connected I have not had any issues.

Version 2 works with Wink

Not much written about Wink compatibility. They are. BUT, you need the second version of these sensors, not the first generation. The ones in tge purple box work. The ines in the plastic clamshell do not. The first gen ines used tge Uris propietary Zigbee protocol. Then Liwes got smart and with the secind gen hub, switched to standard Zigbee, which the newer secind gen sensors use. So they are compatible with Wink if you use the right ones. product works fine

Purchased online and was sold a package that had obviously been returned after use. Battery tab already pulled and sticky tape already applied and used as it no longer was tacky. Removed tape and applied some of my own. Unit hooked up immediately to my hub. So I kept it and hope the battery holds out for a while.

Great remote temperature sensor

I'm using a few of these around my home with a Smartthings hub. I use them to keep track of the temperature of remote areas of the house (basement, garage, spare bedroom, etc). Just keep the magnet attached to the sensor and place this on a shelf or some other location and you have an inexpensive way to monitor temperature from your smartphone, tablet, PC.

good sensor yet PITA to pair - sometimes

I can never understand the inconsistencies when trying to pair sensors to hub... I'll get 10 perfect no problem.. then an hour or more required to try every random thing i can find to do to pair the last one... when i have a consistent process that worked for the fist 10.. Iris devices should have a reset button that places device in pairing mode or a more consistent visual led feedback of status... Plus returning to allowing devices to be setup via the web on a PC is PREFERRED - as smartphone...
