I read the negative reviews but had trouble believing that Irwin tools are of poor quality. I have purchased several Irwin tools over many years, used them regularly had have not had a failure with any of them. I used the 7/16" drill bit to bore out a slightly smaller hole and when you do this you can count on it hanging up a few times until you get through. I hung up 4 times and each time I torqued my wrist and the bit performed fine, like never broke. I used the tap on a 3/8" air tank and ...

This tap worked well for my application.

Check with fluorescent crack fluid before using.

I have used Hanson taps in the past and I have never broken one. This one snapped almost immediately. Manufacturing defect.
