Poor Material For Locking Swivel Bar

I bought this a few years back and have had the same issues with the rotating base cast locking bar. It is very brittle and breaks. I tried to locate this part so I can replace it and there is nothing available. I have tried JB Weld to fix it and that only lasts for a time or two. I do not recommend, as the swivel feature is useless.

Flawed parts manufacturing - brittle/will break

Swivel base locking bar is made of cast metal and is, apparently, very brittle, mine also has broken and I have had no success in looking for/finding a replacement part (the same part broke as in the other review). Parts like this that have stresses applied to them should not be made of brittle cast metal.

Price is right.

Good size and features. Casting is not perfect.

I used this vise very little for no more than one month and the bottom piece that clamps the vise to the swivel base busted with very little force, thought there would be at least an option to buy a new piece to repair it or at least some kind of warranty but apparently there is no warranty on this specific product

Had it for 12 years basic home shop bought it when I bought my house need a vice for my shop dont use it a lot but nice to have except for tonight trying to flatten a piece of metal cranking down and snapped at a pretty major point crazy we'll back to Lowes tomorrow to see if they will honor the warranty

Tighten the jaw swivel in place after setting up

For using vise on pipe and other materials a two jawed vise is way to go

This is a low end vise.What are your expectations?

It is a cheap vise. Cheaply made, and obviously so. Bad castings, bad finishing, very poor precision, poor tolerances, rough operation on all fronts. Will it work as a vise? Probably. However if the initial build quality is any indicator, I'm not optimistic it will hold up over use and time. We will see.
