Relatively Easy to Install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a couple of weeks ago and found installation relatively easy. I buried the boundary wire and guide wire by making a small trench with my Black & Decker lawn edger (it has a trenching feature, you just adjust the guide shoe up, and it allows the blade to cut a thin trench). Probably took 4 hours total, but I took my time in doing it. I'm looking forward to NOT having to mow now, and I expect my "Husky" will do the job.

2nd year with 2 of these review

This is a review going into my second season with 2 of these. Reviews are mixed and I believe this to be because most people’s expectations are different from how these guys work. Setup and install can be a pain for them. The guide wire system requires the wire to be buried around the yard. I used 2 mowers. 1 in my back and 1 in the front due to fences. Cute toy, failure as a mower.

This is a cute toy that is best used as a novelty toy to mow a small round patch of grass. But for actual mowing...no way. I have about 1/4 acre of grass with fenced backyard, trees, garden, etc., which is way more than this robot can handle. First, laying the wire took about 8 hours compared to less than an hour to mow by regular power. This is an amazing bargain, for a robot mower.

We have .22 acres to cut of lawn on just shy of a 1/2 acre lot. Typical neighborhood lot if you compute the grass using online tools. So do not be shy by the specs that say it will only do 1/4 of an acre, that's actually alot of area. It takes 2 days to completely cut the lawn whereas you dont see missed areas. I do have one area it doesnt go that is a narrow side yard, within boundary wires. I may have to re route my guide wire to get there, but that's only about 5% of the total grass. ...

They can be resolved like as with a printer or internet modem. Digging boundary wire is not easy. If you are not up to the task - I'd go for the newer models which are wireless.
