Good Luck
Started good but after warming up I hit the throttle and chain would not move until half throttle. Was acting as clutch brake was on and it wasn't. Tried pulling chain by hand after turning off and it was almost impossible. Loosened outside cover and chain and the was able to turn chain. I readjusted the chain and tightened cover and still have problem. It might have been a good saw after it gets fixed, but I returned it and purchased a different saw because I personally feel if it is bad right ...
Do not buy a chainsaw from Lowes, esp. Hitachi!
Purchased this because of the great reviews and 7 year warranty. This saw could not complete 1 cut! It started smoking, getting hot. Turned off, checked chain tension, which was as it should be. Attempted to cut branch again, smoking, getting hot, so tried to return. The salesperson at store told me "no chainsaw returns if opened/used." I had to ask for the manager, they said they were the manager! They made a call to another manager, that person came and tried to open the fuel cap, but could n...

Hitachi 32.2-cc 2-Cycle 16-in Gas Chainsaw
Worked fine the 1st day, except it doesn't have the same power as my previous 32 year old Husqvarna. The next day it would not prime or start. took it back to Lowes and got a Husqvarna!

Works but leaks oil
Bought this and right woot of the box worked well. Pretty powerful and started easily. After a couple of hours of use I set it in my cabinet. After about a week I went to get it again and it was sitting in a puddle of chain oil. Cleaned it up and re filled it. Used it a little more and same thing again. Every time I store it it leaves a mess. Would not buy again for that reason.
one hit wonder
The first time I used this chainsaw it worked great, started easily, ran great, and tackled everything I threw at it with no problems. Then I Tried using it again 2 weeks later and it showed it's true colors..... can't get it to start.
Hitachi be careful no one repairs them
I purchased the Hitachi CS 40 EA on line it is a bigger saw than the hitachi currently offered but the exact same engineering. the 2 cycle engine is outstanding but the everyday functioning parts are either plastic or very poor quality. I have had to send it in for repairs for major and minor parts replacements far too often in the 10 months I have owned it. No local repair shops will touch it . Caveat Emptor stick with Husky !
best 2 cycle engine I have every seen
It has the best 2 cycle engine I have every seen. It starts easy and Idles great I have owned many 2 cycle engines and most are a pain It has a real carburetor with easy to reach idle and high screws you can probably adjust them with your thumb nail, It started and ran so good I didn't try. It is everything I wanted in a chainsaw
