What Customers Are Saying
The bulb planter tool is reported to be of poor quality, with the handle and metal components described as flimsy and prone to bending or collapsing, especially when used in harder or rockier soil. Many customers found the tool only effective for planting a small number of bulbs in very soft, loose soil before it became unusable. The overall sentiment is that this is a low-quality, inexpensive product that is not worth the money and should be avoided in favor of a more durable, higher-quality alternative.

Cuts your time
A bulb planter increases the speed which you can plant bulbs or plants in 4” containers. Make sure you moisten the ground real good about and hour before you start planting. You’ll be done so fast, you’ll be shocked.

Lasted TWO holes.
Unless you are using this in newly laid, loose, made for TV commercials flower bed, forget it. Our dirt isn't solid as a rock, it's easy to dig, I just wanted to make holes faster. On hole #2, one side of the handle twisted and bent so badly the sliding portion of the top handle came out altogether. No amount of readjusting would get it back again, let alone get it to work as intended, or even finish making hole #2. Absolute garbage.

Perfect if you have a maximum of 2 bulbs to plant
Works great in a fluffy snow drift. However, if attempting to create a hole in garden soil you will encounter instantaneous disintegration.

Not suitable for most soils
This tool is easy enough to use. The handle sides are squeezed together as you plunge the tool into the ground with a twisting back-and-forth motion. When you release the sides, the tool squeezes the soil plug for removal. Sounds good until you run into some serious limitations. Dry soil will not remain trapped in the tool for extraction. Any moderately loamy or clay soil requires some serious pushing and twisting to penetrate the ground. The neck where the handle attaches to the cylinder ...
Perfect
Grandmother has it for more than 20 years and I used it for the first time and I loved it, I only regret not having known before how good it was to dig, put it on land and lacdas laps doing pressure and makes a perfect hole.
Bulb Planter
My wife was looking for a new hand bulb planter. She tried several places around town before I suggested Lowe's. She wound up loving it.
Cheap price, cheap tool
Nothing different than the other reviewers here. Fairly loose soil, the slightest bit of weight and it deformed beyond recovery. I limped it along and got 60 bulbs planted but sliced up my hand maneuvering this thing along the way.
Hand Bulb Planter
does not work in hard packed soil. If you push it down hard to create the planting hole, it will tend to spread out to the point it is not usable. works fine in fertile soil that has been amended and is relatively soft. just know that before you buy.
