The Encore Azalea Autumn Fire is a re-blooming dwarf sized variety that can bloom up to 3 times per year; Spring, Summer, and Fall. This shrub matures to 2.5 ft H X 3 ft W and produces 2.5 In. semi-double blooms that are velvety red. The foliage of this Azalea is glossy green in Spring through Fall, as the temperatures fall, the foliage will change to bronze-purple for this winter. Use the Autumn Fire in planting hedges, borders, foundations, in container gardens, or in mass plantings in the landscape. Encore Azaleas will grow best is slightly acidic soils (pH 5.5-6.5) and when planted in a location that will receive 4-6 hours of sunlight per day. When planting dig the hole 2X the width of the size pot of the plant you are planting with a depth that will allow the root ball to be 1/4 to 1/2 In. above the soil level. Then use a well-draining garden soil mixed with your native soil to back fill the hole around your new Azalea. Use a slow-release slightly acidic fertilizer each year in Spring to keep your Encore Azalea well fed to help maximize bloom production.

Perfect for multiple uses: accents, borders, containers, foundation plantings, hedges, mass plantings, mixed beds, specimen pieces, and woodland gardens.
For planting, blend well-draining garden soil with your native soil to fill the hole and feed with a slow-release, slightly acidic fertilizer each spring.

These particular Azaleas are wonderful because they flower numerous times through the year, not just at one season. They do well in the Carolijnas. They maintain a good shape while growing. Now, these are from "Encore" so you see them in many stores but Lowes has the best price and ships them very well packed. I have bought many and have lost none in shipping damage. So when looking for Azales consider the variet and this one is really good because it is multi season and rather hardy. Then ...
