Backup power and peak shaving!
I had a very long run 50A generator inlet box with manual transfer switch installed a few years back during rolling blackouts before later deciding that I’d prefer a quieter easier to manage LFP battery generator. After lots of analysis paralysis, I circled back to the DP3 purchasing a dual units with 50A hub package during a sale. I routinely use the DP3’s for peak shaving and supplemental off-grid power after getting roof mounted solar. I enjoy days using 100% self-generated power.

Great Product On It's Own, But Not When Maxxed Out
As an owner of the DP3 with two expansion batteries, it's a great system for partial home backup. But in a maxed out situation for powering loads full time off grid, 2600 watts of max solar charging is a horrible design decision. If you do the math, you'll see it for yourself: -DP3 with three extra batteries = 12,288 watts -2600 watts of max solar charging (2000 watts realistically on a perfect solar day) via 150V and 60V solar inputs will take you 5-6 hours to top off the battery bank, minu...
Only 2600 Watts of Solar Charging?
As an owner of the DP3 (and formerly the DP), and as I'm leaning more and more about home backup and now journeying into off-grid migration, what a disappointment the DP3 has turned out to be. And it all comes down to one thing: The atrocious low solar input this device has. EcoFlow's release of the Delta 3 Ultra Plus has also really exposed the weakness of the DP3. As a standalone unit, the DP3 is fantastic. Being able to provide RV camping power and LIMITED home backup power, the DP3 is q...

High capacity, serious power
I recently purchased the EcoFlow Delta Pro 3, and it has completely changed how I think about backup power. The 4kWh capacity and 4000W output give me confidence that I can run everything I need during an outage, from my fridge to heavier appliances. Setup was simple, and the app makes it easy to track usage. It’s heavy, but the wheels and handle make moving it manageable. For me, the peace of mind of having reliable whole-home backup is worth every penny.
