Learn MoreMandrels are used to mount different accessories to use with your Dremel rotary tool. The 402 Dremel Mandrel features slotted screw head and a 1/8 In. (3.2 mm) shank. The 402 mandrel is typically used to hold accessories like cutting wheels and sanding discs. The flathead end of the wrench included in most rotary tool kits can be used to loosen or tighten the screw on the mandrel when doing accessory changes.
The 402 mandrel is used primarily with cut-off wheels but is used with the following Dremel accessories: 409, 411, 412, 413, 420, 423, 425, 426, 456, 511, 512, 540 and 541

Did not get to use it once
I have another dremel so was aware this mandrel is tricky, but I have always been able to get it to work - this time the screw would not go in all the way, I removed the screw, removed the disk, then installed the screw again - this time it stopped half way and did not come out - just spins - arghh
