Buy 8 and double up the pads

Dial has made these pads much thinner than in the past. 1 pad was not absorbing enough water, most of it just running off. I added a second set of four and doubled-up, plenty of room in cooler panel to do so, and resulted in significantly better cooling (at least 5 degrees more delta-t)

Doesn't hold water

My old pads needed changing so I decided to try these. They're useless. The cooler sucks the water right off the pad and into the fan and blows it all over the garage. You can look in through the front of the cooler and watch it happen. Had to cut them to fit so can't return. Complete waste of money and time

Doesn't absorb water evenly

This pads are expensive and don't work when the outside temps are slightly higher. I measured my paper and aspen pads temperature on my other swamp coolers vs this pads and there was a 10F difference. One thing I noticed is that this pads don't absorb water evenly. One side of the pad was wet and the otherside when I padded it, you can see dust flying off while the water was running through the other side of the pad. They do last a long time and have no smell, but I prefer just to change my aspe...
