I bought this for my 12 year old water heater. I had replaced the anode rod twice and decided to buy the electric one. can't tell a big difference but I like the idea on how it's supposed to work.

Easy install, but I don’t have 1 3/16 socket just use a big adjustable wrench is fine. Does it work? I’ll know 20years from now lol…. The aluminum rod I installed last year doesn’t seem too, as it just built up gunk of brown mud instead of getting smaller, water heater installed 2021 by me, AO Smith, the cold nipple looked rusted but when I took it out it was fine, it has a long blue plastic tube connected to it, I guess will be hard to get a replacement if necessary. Installation was surprisingly easy on my 4 year old Rheem water heater. Using an impact wrench to remove the old anode rod made the process a lot easier and less stressful as spinning the tank was less likely using this method.

This is a excellent anode rod that is easy to install once you get the old one out, as other reviewers noted the easy way to remove the old anode rod is with a 1/2 inch drive impact wrench that is capable of at least 400 ft. lbs. of torque, like this Kobalt impact wrench from Lowe’s, Item #4913881 Model #KIW 4024A-03 and a 1-1/16 inch 6 point impact socket do not use a 12 point socket as this will round out the anode head bolt.
