We purchased a Bosch cooktop and down draft vent in 2008. The up/down motion of the vent failed in about 2016, because the motor failed. It was replaced by a service tech, but in 2018 it failed again. This time I took it apart and throughly cleaned all the moving parts and the easily available surfaces of grease that had accumulated everywhere, the motor still worked when I reassembled it. Excellent and elegant downdraft vent system

Bosch 800 Series 36" downdraft

I purchased the downdraft unit and the blower separately. You will need an attachment to hook up the blower to the downdraft unit unless you plan on attaching the blower directly to the front panel of the downdraft. This will take up a lot of space and will not be possible if you plan to have drawers below your cooktop. It is made to be installed inside an open cabinet. More Parts?

I paid thousands for my BOSCH Cooktop and separate downdraft for my new construction, only to find out at the time of installation it requires more parts! Now this will hold up progress, cost more, and delay my kitchen completion. For the amount of money BOSCH charges, add it up front (if you really need to) but make sure that everything necessary is included! Works much better than older unit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had an old 22 year old downdraft ventilation from another company that did a semi-acceptable job of venting. This new unit from Bosch is a lot better than the older one. It now mostly clears the cooking area when smoke/fumes are coming up from the cooking. Not all of it but at least 85% to 95% of it which is quite acceptable.

Bosch 800 37" Telescoping Downdraft range hood

After purchasing over $8k worth of Bosch kitchen products for our total kitchen remodel, we now find out on the day of installation, that the above mentioned unit requires additional parts in order for it to operate. Needless to say we are very upset that we now have to modify our installation plans, which will take much longer for us to complete the project. Why were we not informed the day we purchased the appliances that we needed additional parts?

Downdraft hood exhaust

The downdraft blower works as expected and we are satisfied with the performance so far. I hope the filters capture the grease better than our old Dacor one which allowed grease to accumulate in the electrical box. It matches the Bosch induction stove top that we purchased earlier.
