Good Price, Good Riddance
Used for light gardening for a few weeks and then the wooden handle cracked and separated at the joint with the metal shovel head. As others have said, I guess I got what I paid for...the cheapest quality for the cheapest price.
Wood handle cracks under moderate use!
TWICE I have had to return this spade: The wood handle cracks under moderate pressure while planting shrubs or digging out tough roots. My old spade was wonderful, but was stolen! Short-handled spades are essential to expert gardeners like myself! They don't make things like they used to, that's for sure! ... Also, the metal business end of this product seems to be made of some alloy that is weak! It buckles when I try to bite into tough, compacted soil conditions. This is NOT a quality pr...
don’t bother
This shovel would be good if you’re digging in loose soil, but for anything harder this just sucks. I tried digging a hole for a sapling and the blade kept bending.
Easy Digging
I a 5'2" female. I wanted a shovel that would make it easy to dig holes. The shovel is perfect. The top of the handle allows for easy pushing into the dirt. The shape of bottom of the shovel also allows me to use my foot to push (with very little effort) the shovel into the dirt. This shovel should be named "The Woman's Shovel."
Good sturdy shovel
I use the shovel for digging holes for planting and for turning over soil in the garden. Our soil in our backyard is pretty rooty and rocky but this shovel seems to cut through most of it and holds up under my weight when I use it as leverage for particularly tough uprooting jobs. For the price this was a great buy. Obviously the wooden handle will probably be subject to breaking at some point but for now works great!
A Digging Shovel?
I try to be fair in my reviews..... and I'm sorry to say, in my opinion this is a flimsy, pretty useless shovel for the money. Maybe if you are digging in beach type sand it would be ok. Tonight I heard a crack from somewhere on it, I kept on using it, and will until it breaks. If I could find my receipt I'd return it.
Spend the extra few bucks to get a stronger shovel
Bought this shovel to use to dig up small rose bushes, by the 3rd plant I heard crack and the handle loosened. Now mind you these plants were not big plants. No way should the handle separate from the bottom. Spend the extra few bucks for a better shovel. In the end I guess i got what I paid for ....A $15 dollar busted shovel.
The Perfect Shovel
When I saw this short-handle shovel, I couldn't have been more delighted, or so I thought; until I tried it and found out what a fantastic tool it is. Not only is it the perfect size, the weight of it is balanced and comfortable yet substantially sturdy and strong. I felt very confident that it would not splinter or break. The overall design of this shovel makes it easy to accomplish tasks.. I couldn't be happier with a shovel.
Wonderful Shovel!
This product is the best for gardening!! I use it alot for planting trees and flowers! Good size and it fits me great because I'm only 5'5 haha! Highly recommended for women who wants a light, simple shovel for gardening!
Nice for short
Good if area is smaller but large areas put undo stress on handle and shaft.
