Learn MoreThe Adjust-A-Grate model L9 fits inside window well openings that project from the house 34 – 37 in. and have an opening of 45 – 60 in. along the house (use inside dimensions). This adjustable aluminum window well grate works best for metal or concrete wells with rounded front corners. These are not recommended for rectangular wells as the first set of "loops" is shorter to accommodate a radial corner. These window well grates fit a variety of well contours and sizes within the range to provide a custom fit at a reasonable cost. This grate is designed to protect your family, animals, and home from the hazards of an open basement window well without having to purchase expensive custom window well covers. This adjustable window well grate is made of tempered aluminum and is strong enough to support up to 400 lb., preventing people, larger animals, and things from falling into the well. Yet, this aluminum window well cover is light enough to allow quick escape in an emergency and has open ventilation to allow natural light and air to flow into the basement window. Made of tempered aluminum, this window well grate won't rust or require painting, doesn't get cloudy or weaken like plastic in the sun's harmful UV rays, and because it allows for ventilation it won't collect dirty water, lawn debris, or dirt that block natural light to the basement.

Lightweight alternative
Online this was $189 and when I went to pick up in store, they tried to charge me $289. They said it was based on ZIP Code so they charge more for certain ZIP Codes and this was per customer service…super disappointing. As for the product, it is OK for a lightweight grate but I would prefer the mesh metal but it’s a quick fix for a window. It it does have a max length which would’ve worked for my window, but upon measuring it, it does fall short, but I was still able to make it work, but my win...

A Well Engineered and fabricated Product
I just installed 4 covers with the security lock option. They are very well engineered, uses quality material, precisely fabricated and readily installable. A construction tip: when you are making the template, it is better to make it a bit small rather than too big. Hold the marking pen straight up with the sides pressed to the window well while tracing the template.
