What Customers Are Saying
The AMDRO fire ant killer appears to have mixed effectiveness. Many customers report it is highly effective at eliminating fire ant mounds and colonies, while others found it was not as effective as they had hoped, with ants simply relocating their mounds. The granules are easy to apply directly to mounds, and the ants seem to readily take the bait back to the colony. However, some customers noted the product's potency seems to have decreased over time. Overall, the consensus is that the product works well in many cases, but may not be a complete solution for severe or persistent infestations, requiring careful application and periodic reapplication for best results.

Waiting For Ants to Die of Old Age
Bought this ant bate on sale and applied it regularly on the mounds. After a few weeks, ants are still active in mounds. I then read the description more carefully. Apparently it has a "growth regulator" that prevents queen from producing but apparently does nothing to kill existing ants. So you are literally waiting for the existing ants to die of old age. Next time I'll use something that actually exterminates these ants at the mound so that I can more quickly get rid of these ants.
Works well
Mom is 91 and works in her flower beds constantly. She recently stirred up some fire ants and they got on her pretty bad. I bought this product to take care of the ants, and it did just that. No more fire ants. Mom's back to working in her flower beds again.

Amdro Fire Ant Yard Treatment
I recently tried the AMDRO fire ant yard treatment as a less costly alternative to the AMDRO fire ant mound treatment and sprinkled it directly on the mounds rather than broadcasting. No water needed. It seems to work about as well as the mound treatment but on strong colonies may take multiple applications. The ants like the bait and within a matter of minutes carry it into their mound to share with the colony. It's not as potent as the mound treatment but does contain a growth inhibitor that s...

Amdro Fire Ant Poison
This worked well the first couple of times that I used it, but after a season of use, the ants have gotten to where they just move their mounds over about six feet.
