Not a good replacement!
I have used Whirlpool filters for years that looked a lot like this one. They were good filters and took out the chlorine smell and taste. This one has not done that. You can smell the chlorine when you draw a glass of water. I am not happy with it for that reason and the water has a taste to it that I never had with the previous mentioned filter. These were the only ones they had available to fit my filter case and supposedly to do the same things that the Whirlpool filters would do. Appar...

After 1 the water tastes like plastic
Water tastes like it's been sitting in a plastic bottle all day. Absolutely horrible. If you haven't used the water in 2 to 3 hours it gets a plastic tastes to it. I don't know if it's because of the plastic lines or the plastic housing or the filter. The water tastes terrible.

This filter does not filter out any micro contaminates period ! All this thing might do is remove a chlorine taste. This is not a replacement for the Whirlpool whkf-gac filter. it's what i would call a sorry thing that fits and that's it's only good point. IMHO.

I purchased and installed filter housing with cartridge. The water's chlorine odor did not improve, I purchased another cartridge, It was sealed in plastic. The cartridge that came with the set was not sealed, The new cartridge worked to our satisfaction. Caution: Reject any cartridge that is not sealed.

I had bought a filter to go under my sink to fit my whirlpool filter system. The water tasted rotten, so I bought the AO Smith charcoal filter, took the others out and it was slimy. Put the AOS filters in and we are praying it will be as good as the first glass.

Filter works well for an extended time.Basic charcoal filters only lasted 3 to 4 weeks. This filter worked for 6 months before it needed to be changed.I have well water that often has a sulfur smell and this removes it completely.
