What Customers Are Saying
Most customers report serious frustration with this wood filler, citing misleading stainability claims—it turns green and refuses stain despite packaging promises. The product hardens far faster than advertised, often in under a minute versus the claimed 3–5 minutes, leaving users unable to apply it properly. Many criticize unclear mixing instructions, inconsistent hardener color, difficult sanding, and lingering toxic odor. Some experienced users report success with small batches and patience, though they acknowledge significant limitations. Overall, reviewers feel deceived and warn others to avoid it for staining projects.

Waste of time & money; poor ease of use, waste of product for the amt. for sm. jobs. Won't recommend or think of buying again.

Can half empty
As with potato chips and cereal, it's always disappointing to open a new product and see the packaging half empty. I'm sure the "weight" probably aligns, but I estimate amounts by volume, so I bought this size can based on how much I thought I'd use. It feels like I've been ripped off.

Threw it away- useless
You only provide enough hardener to use a small portion of the can. The instructions don’t even tell you the mix ratio- I finally found it down in user reviews. This was designed simply to bill people

Cheap
Right off the bat I knew this was a cheap, crappy product. 3M couldn't be bothered with providing mixing and application instructions with the can. Sloppy, sloppy.

Losing another longtime customer to shrinkflation
Hey 3M. Just understand that when a customer pays retail then opens your can to see it half full, the customer gets angry, takes a picture, gets online, blasts you publicly, then never buys your product again. Side note: Why bother with the same size tube of cream hardner then? You might has well add one the size of a pea.

Everything you don't know about this product!
#1 - there is no instructions with the product... #2 After reviewing many online videos heres the simple steps... #3 The lid is 3" in diameter (just what you need) to start with, fill it a 1/2" full and add the hardner #4 Mix well but very quickly! #5 Use a small putty knife to mix and apply #6 Clean out un-used bondo before it hardens...Ha, Ha, Ha... #7 You'll more than likely toss the balance of the product in the trash... #8 If not, reseal container, and buy additional hardners as need...

Outstanding product, does take some practice!
This works very well but does take some practice in mixing. I mixed it too hot the first time and had little time to spread. No worries, after it hardened, I sanded smooth (not off) with 80 grit and correctly mixed and applied the second coat, let it harden, QUICK pass of 80 grit, sanded smooth with 220, two coats of Bin primer, 2 coats of Behr Marquise paint and done. Those who are more instinctively artistic will have better results. This requires mechanical and artistic skill. If you are bere...

Poor instructions!
Guys, you have contradictory info on your technical data sheet! You say "Yes" for stainable but the icon has a line drawn through it (meaning "No."). You also don't demo how to take the stupid lid off. Can't use the product if I can't get the lid off. Epic technical writing fail.

Terrible color, works as described
For the life of me I couldn’t imagine why you would show a wood grain color on the can that this product looks nothing like… entirely unable to stain that mess of a green that it turns into. Paints just fine but that wasn’t my intention.
