What Customers Are Saying
The ferns are generally described as healthy, full, and vibrant green plants that are easy to care for. Customers highlight the lush appearance and reasonable pricing, especially when on sale. However, some report issues like the plants being smaller, drying out quickly, or developing problems like browning leaves or fungus. Overall, the ferns are a solid choice, but customers should inspect the plants carefully and provide proper care to ensure their longevity.

1.5 Gallon Boston Fern Hanging Basket
Great plants. Bought these for the front porch last year and this year. Hooked them on a drip irrigation line and timer system all summer and boom you have beautiful ferns all summer long. Only draw back to these beautiful plants is the birds are attracted to them for nesting. Rest assured you will have baby chicks before too long if you buy them and water them well. The only other warning I'll give is they don't hold up well during the winter, unless you protect them from the cold and fros...
Unhealthy Fern
For the past 10 years or so, I have been buying Boston Ferns from Lowes. Every year they are a little different in size, but for the most part they have grown and survived with the aide of my green thumb. I have gotten many compliments on the ferns that I have purchased from Lowes, however, this year 2021 is different. When I purchased it, the ferns were all covered/wrapped in a white type plastic and I was instructed by the cashier to NOT remove the plastic covering d/t a snowstorm approach...
Crap credit card.
The ferns are beautiful, full and healthy, inexpensive. Do not take a credit line with Lowe's. The bank they deal with lowered my credit line and closed my account a few months later which dropped my credit score. My account was current, absolutely no reason to do that, I kept a low balance so maybe I was of use to them. I opened the account to get a discount on a larger purchase. Never again.
That plants need more care.
I greatly dislike the pots now used for hanging baskets. And I hate the use of sawdust in the potting medium. Metrolina should quit this. Everything I purchase now has to be repotted. So I try to find a mom and pop greenhouse and buy all I can from them. And it’s a shame Lowe’s lets the plants go with so little care. They need more water and care.
Make sure ur pots aren’t very deep
Was not hanger I wanted and online showed the store had the ones I wanted but not even 3 different employees knew where they were located or was told just don’t have! So bought these and they are not deep enough to hang correctly in my 4 ferns!! Going to return & get refund & just search on for ones I want!!! The design was different and just won’t work for my ferns!!!!
It’s growing!!
Holy Cow!! We bought these plants and put water on them and they’re still alive!!! I’m not joking but I think they are actually bigger now than when we bought them. I wonder if keeping them in the sunlight is good for them but that’s where they are. I know outside in the sunlight!!! Amazing!!!
Attracts pooping birds, makes spouses happy.
It’s a plant so not much to really say. I felt bad buying it knowing it was going to die a slow death at the hands of my wife but it made her really happy so sorry bout your luck fern. #1 dislike is a bird decided to make a nest in it, before I noticed there were babies pooping all over my porch. Wife won’t let me get rid of them now so guess I have a poop fern for a few more weeks.
Got burnt
Midland MI, Day we arrived for a tour of garden center they had just received a huge shipment of plants. Many had been frostbite. The ferns looked ok so we bought 3. They said the water lines had burst and things hadn't got watered from lack of help and pipes not fixed yet. We watered them and sat ferns and put them in garage for a couple days till the days got warm. Let them get some sun and put them away at night. Ended up all dead leaves. I had to give them a severe haircut and hoping they wi...
Lowe's indoor plants are diseased
Lowe's used to take good care of their plants but no more. The last few plants I've purchased were all diseased and a pontytail plant I bought actually infected two of my huge spider plants that I've had for over a decade and eventually killed them. I've bought the last plant from Lowe's.
They could be fuller
I love ferns this time of year and didn't want to drive around all day looking for them. These were $16.99 each and I bought 2. They are not as large or full as I like, but the great thing was, Lowe's was having a 50% of deal on gardening plants. That was a bonus.
