Step 1

Wash the vase in soapy water and let it air dry -- using a towel or other material to dry it can leave lint on the piece.

Step 2

Put on rubber gloves. In a well-ventilated location, apply spray primer using a light back-and-forth motion about 1 foot from the object. Make sure all surfaces are painted; let dry. Then spray the desired color repeating the same technique, repeating if necessary.

Good to Know

Go slow and apply light coats when spraying. If you spray too fast -- or get too close -- paint will drip and run. Use paint pyramids to keep projects from sticking to the prep area.
