Straight forward install and setup.

Has the grain capacity I need. It was nice that it included a hardness test strip which is useful in entering the settings. This unit also includes an iron pre-rinse cycle. I wish that all softeners had a common plumbing interface given my replaced softener was different (seems like there are two types of interfaces).

Great softener.

My old Whirlpool softener (Kenmore) lasted 25 years. It was still working but was due for resin replacement as it was using more salt. This one has some added features I like and it works great. It is hardly using salt at all. I highly recommend it! Easy install and set up too.

So far so good

This softener is mechanically designed almost indentical to the unit I replaced that was over 25 years old. This gave me some piece of mind in that the basics are very familiar. This unit regenerates by demand which save a lot of salt. It also learns overtime and will anticipate a normally busy laundry day and regenerate before the demand to have ample soft water available. Missing parts? Not Lowe's problem....

The water softener is supposed to come with a bypass valve unique to this unit, however mine did not. Lowes required me to reach out to Whirlpool, but I can't be on hold all day. This error on Whirlpool's part cost me several days and is unresolved at the time of writing this.

Broken after two months

The installation was relatively easy, but unfortunately, it no longer works after two months. It was installed by a professional plumber. The unit does not soften water based upon the home water test, and the basin has excess water that does not drain. I reached out to customer service because it is still under warranty, and have not heard anything. I would look elsewhere.

A total disaster

A total disaster. Fed ex shows up wth the box laying on it's side in the truck. Driver drags it out and I can see the box is all beat up. Driver says any problems and they will return it and he leaves. Upon opening the box I find the brine well broken, resin tank loose, a round gasket laying at the bottom, and a plastic tab on control unit broken off. Works Normally

We've had a Whirlpool WHES30 for almost 20 years. It finally stopped softening the water so we had to replace it. Looking at reviews, I was concerned by the number of 1 & 2 star ratings for the new Whirlpool softeners but took a chance since our old one lasted so long.
