Take Care to Mitigate Tip Clogging

The tip clogs easily, and can be frustrating to unclog. But, thing can be done to mitigate it. Somewhere in the instructions, I read to give the tip a quarter turn when not in use. This makes it so that the hole in the tip is not exposed to the air and helps prevent it from drying and clogging. Easy to use out of the box, but.

This is easy to use out of the box, but there are some things that could be improved upon. The biggest one is getting the spray pattern correct. I kept getting "fingering" when I used it but couldn't find in the manual why or how to correct it, until I stumbled upon the solution on-line (I needed to increase the pressure). The Power cord, Pickup, and Prime Tubes could be longer so as to be able to reach better (Not deal breakers though). That aside, this is a great unit for the amateur/beginner...

Lower Pressure Equals No Problem

I do a lot of spraying furniture using Fuji and Devilbis HVLP units. The prospect of the lower pressure in an airless unit tweaked my interest for larger area projects. The Wagner Control Pro 170 did not disappoint. While I was spraying a transparent oil sealer on cedar fencing, it worked great with minimal overspray and see no reason why it would not work on higher viscosity coatings. Better than expected w/ Correct Tip

First time user. Sprayed Cabot Wood Protector directly from the 5 gallon can to protect a recently installed, pressure treated 6' shadowbox fence. I used a 315 tip which handles material thinner than the included 515 tip for latex paint. Overspray was minimal and I used about 4 gallons to cover about 220 linear feet in about 3 hours with the pump on #2 setting maintaining about a 4" wide spray pattern. Excellent tool to have in your inventory.

This product worked good for me. The first time I used it I applied 9 1/2 gallons of stain in 2 1/2 hours using the second smallest tip that is available for this sprayer. The sprayer has a suction tube and filter that goes into the bucket. This alone saved a lot of time since I didn't have to constantly fill the container. It is fairly quiet to use.
