What Customers Are Saying
The Toro zero-turn mower offers powerful performance and efficient mowing for large lawns. Customers praise its solid construction, ergonomic features, and ability to quickly and neatly cut grass. However, some users have experienced issues with the mower's components and durability, requiring frequent repairs. While capable when functioning properly, there are concerns about the long-term reliability of the mower.
Customer review summary generated by AI, including incentivized reviews. The mower is great, the set up was not great.
I like the mower, it's fast and maneuverable and I reduced my mowing time from around 6 hours with a hand push mower to about 1.5 hours. I'd never even driven a zero turn mower before and it takes a little practice but I expect I'll get even faster as I get used to it. The delivery was excellent, good communication from the driver and there were no issues. Mower was in proper new condition, no scratches or dents. That's the good, now for the not so good. After checking the oil and filling up...

My 15 year review
I just upgraded to the titanium series but thought 8kd give you guys an idea of this machine. At the time I bought mine these were just the time cutter SS5000. I will tell you my machine has been used and abused the entire time I had it. It is still running and mowing today! I use a mulching kit. In 15 years it’s on its 3rd belt. 1st one lasted 10 and to tell you the truth the 2nd one would have been fine but I think I got the wrong one. 3rd belt is on it’s 4th year and going strong. Toros warra...
Toro Time-cutter Max is a winner
I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this Toro TC Max, 77501. I love the way it handles, not as smooth as the zero turn I had before, but its good. Handles are responsive and can be easily adjusted to your customization. Seat is very comfortable and adjusted at the right height. Ample speed and agility forward & reverse. I did have to zip tie a few of the cables and wiring harnesses because they were too close to the tires or other engine parts. I do take exception with the battery compar...

Be prepared
Dont bother registering they wont help you. First thing to go were the belts after about 6 months cutting one acre once a week. Normal right? Then it was the Throttle handle, housing and soon after the cable itself. The Throttle handle is very soft aluminum and bends easy. The cable is too close to the engine and becomes so hot it melts the inside of it and then hardens so the cable wont move inside of itself. Replacing the cable be sure to always disconnect the battery before servicing the cab...

Don’t buy
We have had nothing but issues with our 50in Timecutter Max zero turn. We have had this mower since Spring 2024. The belt has needed replaced 5 times already, the deck has had multiple issues (bolts snapping off and then being stuck - currently useless as the same bolt snapped off again and is stuck.), we have had issues with the whole mower seizing up and blades not engaging. Will never buy another Toro product again. From reading other reviews seems others have had similar issues with little t...

Round hole for carriage bolt - Really?
Everything has been great with one exception. I bought and installed a mulching kit for the mower. The kit used a carriage bolt on both sides of the deck to attach the baffles to the deck. One side was fine, the other side had a round hole in the deck for the bolt, not a square hole. I had to buy a regular bolt and secure with a lock washer. Easy fix, but frustrating to see such a simple error. Everything else has been great! Mower arrived in the given window, the driver was professional ...

The best with Kawasaki Engine!
I couldn’t be more impressed with the Toro TimeCutter Max 50-in Zero-Turn Riding Lawn Mower. From the moment I started using it, it was clear this machine was built for both performance and comfort. The 23-HP Kawasaki Engine provides more than enough power to tackle large or overgrown yards with ease. The 50-inch cutting deck covers a lot of ground quickly and delivers a clean, consistent cut every time. What stands out is the zero-turn maneuverability. Navigating around trees, landscaping, and ...
Problems
Mower finally delivered 8/21/25, first used it on 9/4/25and worked fine, but when I got up to my pole barn and lifted the seat to check the gas tank the seat slid down and both of the locking knobs were gone guess whoever assembled mower forgot to tighten them. Found 1 on the gas tank but have no idea where the other one is. Second time I went to mow with it after about 5 minutes the belt just broke no noise just the mower stopped mowing. Would like both items replaced. This is my second Toro 50...

Needs Adjustments
I purchased a Toro zero-turn mower from Lowe’s, and while it arrived in good physical condition and the engine runs well, the steering is completely out of alignment. This is not a minor issue—the levers are so far off that it makes the mower extremely frustrating and nearly impossible to operate correctly. I followed the owner’s manual and attempted all recommended adjustments, but nothing worked. I have contacted Lowe’s multiple times and still have not received any response. This is unaccepta...
Toro 50”
Really like the seat but would prefer it to have a lever like a car to adjust. I bought this mower for two main reasons. The 50” deck is heavy duty and the Kawasaki engine. So far the cut is very good and I don’t see the grass mound up like my tractor. I think the power of the blades cuts better and disperses it further. I have never owned a Toro but I chose it over the J.D and the Ariens mostly for the deck size and the right engine combination. Cannot attest to longevity since it it new but mo...
