What Customers Are Saying
The reviews on this product are mixed. Some customers report the soil is good quality and helps plants thrive, while others find it contains an excessive amount of non-soil materials, making it unsuitable for potting and container gardening. Some also mention issues with mold, pests, and poor plant growth. The consensus is that the soil may work well for some uses, but is not consistently reliable as a standalone potting mix.

More sticks than dirt
Seems like this bag of soil has a very large amount of sticks and wood shavings in it.

Wood chips galore
Too many wood chips; not enough quality soil; planning on returning it

It is definitely worth the price for the amount.
I love the size of this product.

absolute trash
At best, I would call this half-baked compost. FULL of sticks, rocks, and undigested leaves. Obviously hasn't been within shouting distance of a trommel/screen sorter. Some of what I found shouldn't have been put INTO a compost pile, much less sold as "composted potting mix".

The only way...
Buying bulky heavy garden products like these and getting them home is a task at 61 years of age. Having a young man who appeared to be teenaged load them up in to my truck made it all the more enjoyable to do some planting last week. Potting soil is what it is. Having potting soil placed in the bed of your truck while you are warming your buns from the drivers seat is nearly decadent.

Different than previous years
I've had good luck with this brand of potting soil before, but not this year! I don't know what changed. I had one partial bag left from last year which I used in two of my patio trellis pots. The other 4 trellises got the "new" bags. The two pots with the older bag soil did much better than the 4 with the new soil. My tomatoes look anemic. Cukes haven't done anything, they just "sit there." Yeah, we've had rain this spring, and plants have been well fed, get plenty of sun on the deck. ...

would not buy again
The 32qt bags were on sale so I took a chance even though the reviews aren't great. As soon as I dumped it in the wheelbarrow I knew I'd made a mistake. The soil is loaded with sticks and large wood chunks. I started to pick them out by hand, then decided to use my 1/2"x1/2" screen. About 25% of the product is wood. I will not buy this product again and I would advise others to do the same. See attached pics. The smaller pile is what I picked out by hand, the larger pile is what I screened out. ...

If you are using this for plants that matter DONT!
Long review: I had been needing to repot all my plants for some time and for Mother’s Day or around Mother’s Day we went to Lowe’s and I decided I would buy some new soil and pots for my plants. Some I have are 30 years old and handed down, but one, which is most important to me, was from my mother’s funeral. The normal peace Lilly of funerals but it’s been going strong for four years since she passed. It needed new soil and a bigger pot so it could keep growing and I’d be able to give starte...

Buy Sta Green in small bags so you can DIY!
The potting soil is great; my only issue is the packaging. I chose the 64 quart packages in order to get the best price per quart. Because they were too heavy for me, I had a store employee load the bags into my van. I probably should have just paid a little more to get the potting soil in smaller packages. Once home, I needed a family member to unload the large bags and later lift each one in turn onto my potting cart as my project progressed. Needless to say, the pace of my work was dependent ...
