Paslode Cordless XP Nailer with 18GA Cordless Brad Nailer

Fantastic Nailer

I have had a Paslode finishing nailer for a number of years and it’s always been a reliable tool for me. Although I have found some things awkward with it (like loading a fuel cell), it’s always been the most convenient nailer for finishing work. It’s nice not to worry about a compressor and air hose. When I was given the opportunity to test the Paslode 30-degree Cordless XP Framing Nailer, I jumped at the opportunity to try the product. This is a well designed nailer and has some features tha...

No Compressor - No Problem,

What a game changer! How appreciative I am with the ease of being able to use my nail gun just about anywhere! So simple to grab from the case and go right to work. No more compressor or hoses to drag out and set up. Best of all is not having to share the compressor with others. Love this aspect of the nail gun. Some features that are noteworthy: The weight of the nail gun is comparable to standard nail guns I have used, maybe even a bit lighter. Not having a hose to mess with and share wi...

More versatile than I expected

This is not a cordless electric tool. The battery supplies spark to the internal combustion engine, which also requires a fuel cell. The cells are not supplied with the tool (for reasons that will be obvious once you think about it). You need to buy a fuel cell when you buy the nailer if you want it to work and don’t want to make a trip back to buy it later. They are not expensive. Paslode cautions you to read the instruction manual before using the nailer. Take that advice. The On/Off sw...

Cordless with power

I’ve got a chance to work with Paslode nailer over 10 years ago while building a garage. All of us were using regular pneumatic nailers and back then that cordless tool was something new, scary, and unusual for us. So, after trying it for a few minutes we all set it aside and continued with own tools. A big mistake. I had a chance to avoid running hoses around a long time ago. Being cordless is the biggest advantage of Paslode. Of course, now battery cordless tools are starting to appear. But if...

Nice to work without a compressed air hose

The nailer comes in an impressive plastic case, with custom cavities for holding the gun, battery, charger, gas cylinders, etc. It should be noted that the gas cylinder does not come with the nail gun, so make sure you pick one up or you'll be making another trip to the store. It kind of makes sense to sell the gas separately because it has an expiration date and if the nailer sits on the store shelf for months, the gas will be expiring. Charging the battery and installing the gas is very easy. ...

Why didn't I buy one years ago?

First off I must state that I am not a professional tradesman. I'm just a Harry Homeowner who is probably more skilled and experienced than the average HH, but still, not a professional. I've used various brands of air tools for decades and have been very satisfied with what they do. At the same time I've known about Paslode, but they've always seemed like the "Cadillac" of nail guns, and I'm more a Chevy driver. With a major rebuild of my back porch coming up I finally got the chance to g...

So much better than air!

Owning a horse farm, I have been in the market for a cordless nailer for a very long time. After my first few uses, while not perfect, I think its a great option if you already use Paslode equipment and nails. The hybrid battery/fuel system saves a lot of weight over the purely battery operated options. Setting the depth was very easy and required no tools. The case is great and has slots to hold extra fuel and battery(not included). Loading nail clips is effortless. On the downside, it ca...

Great battery life!

I haven’t had a chance to use this at work and had been looking for a reason to use it around the house. Since we recently adopted a puppy my wife wanted a dog house. Since I had been looking for an excuse to use this Paslode XP framing nailer anyway a dog house she will have! While building the huge doghouse (Great Pyrenees) I was impressed with the life of the battery. I didn’t expect much from such a small cell but the battery lasted until the job was done. Of course Paslode still uses ga...

Offers Portability with Trade Offs

I was excited when Lowe's Loop offered to send me two cordless brad and nail guns to try out. I have been working on the baseboards and other projects in my house for over a year, and I figured it would be nice to compare these with my corded air-compressor equivalent tools. Also, Lowe's doesn't provide a voucher or gift card to buy the nails and fuel cartridges required to try out these products. Functionally they work very well. I didn't experience nail jams or other issues when I used them. ...

Awesome Nail Gun

The Paslode XP Cordless Framing Nailer is a great nail gun. I love the flexibility of taking it anywhere without having to carry around an air compressor. I fully charged the battery before using it and liked the feature that has two stops for the battery. When you initially push the battery in it's in the off position and the gun doesn't operate. You then have to push the button in and finish loading the battery. This basically gives you an on/off switch for the gun. I loaded up some 3" nails a...
