Several months ago we purchased an 80 year old cottage that has a goodly amount of the original 1 1/4 inch hardwood flooring. First thing's first: let's talk about the stripe of woodgrain shown on the label of this product. It would be intuitive for this to show the approximate color of the stain in question; I get that the color of the wood itself will change it a bit so an exact match isn't really possible...on the other hand the labels for the various colors looked like the same color to me, but with a different wood grain pattern. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter and I applied the original oil based Minwax penetrating oil based stain in Golden oak on stripped oak planks that are over 60 years old. The stain was applied with a high quality polyester bristle brush for applying stain and a lot of hand rubbing after allowing the stain to penetrate for about 10 mins. Wow, it looks great!!
