Great drill but no more

This is a great drill in terms of weight and power. Unfortunately, according to Metabo in January 2026, this drill was discontinued in 2023 and does not have a replacement. Thus, it's time to move on and find an new tool.

No experience yet. I just recieved it 2 days ago. As far as a review of the purchase process, right product for the price. I was mis-led that t5he specific item wasa currently in stock in the hawthorne store. It was not, therefore I made a useless trip to the store. I was successful in ordering the desired product on-line for delivery to the store for pick-up. I recommed bedtter communication of what is, in fact, in the store's inventory.

Wont stand behind their warranty

This drill was a free gift with purchase on a Metabo circular saw and it was great until it burnt up and began smoking. Sent to warranty claims and said that it was normal wear and tear after not even 6 months of use. I have had drills for 20+ years never burn up and they would not stand behind their warranty as they advertise. I would stay far away from Metabo.

Worked just fine until-

This drill worked well until the retainer screw for the chuck broke in two, it happened while I was drilling into pine (soft wood only ½" thick?) And after looking at the screw it's obvious there is a defect in the steel a literal cavity in the metal. I've never seen that before on a machined piece of steel so is metabo using cast steel screws? I've had a terrible time trying to find out what the screw size is as it seems the company uses several different sizes and types. I would recommend buyi...

Love this drill!

Bought this at the black friday sale as my 20yr old Dewalt had seen better days. What a bargain! Great quality, and cheap at $40. I like the keyless chuch feature , comfortable weight and grip. Excellent CORDED drill for general woodworking

I did a lot of research to find a well made CORDED drill for my shop. I do not like or use battery powered power-tools. I like the long-term reliability that comes from a corded tool. This drill has good torque, good variable speed control, feels good in the hand, is relatively lightweight and is well balanced. The METAL chuck is the icing on the cake. I really like this drill

The reason I gave it 4 stars is only because if you run it with no load meaning have no bit in the chuck and push the switch on in either direction I hear a sort of rattle sound. It sounds like gear lash rattle and if I turn the chuck by hand I feel the gear lash. It's not excessive and I have felt this is circular saws. If you run the drill and apply just a bit of pressure on the chuck the rattle stops in either direction. I'm not sure if it's grease it needs or just it's normal gear lash ...

Great value for the price

Very affordable, perfect for installing rain gutters and downspouts with hex screws, especially if a pilot hole is first drilled with a small drill bit. No clutch, so not the best tool if your project is torque-sensitive.

Very pleased

No other drill in this price range has a all metal chuck that I could find. There is no adjustable clutch it does have a pre set clutch. This is a basic corded drill with plenty of power if you do not pay attention it will pull a screw through a fence slat in a few seconds without hesitation.
