It seems thinner and still moves around
A magnified cross section of this might look like this: vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv. While it might be 2-mil thick overall, the texturing is accomplished by making it 2-mil thick in some areas and approximately 0.7-mil thick in others. This makes it lighter and thus gets blown around a lot easier. A solid 2-mil thick sheet with no texture weighs twice as much so it doesn't blow around and stays put better. While the texturing might help keep it from slipping a little, they say 31%, that's not enough...

this thing is huge, so I had to fold it in half, and there's a fair bit of slippage between the layers. Does the job though, and I don't think it's sprung a leak yet.
