Here's the deal. They're pliers and they do the job - you're paying a couple extra bucks for the brand and logevity / rust prevention - NOT the rubber tips. Anyone who is buying this for the rubber tips needs to kick rocks. Con-ish: You'll read the rubber tips arent good. YES they're not. You apply pressure and if the object you're gripping has a sharp edge you'll cut through the rubber. BUT! no plumber trusts those rubber tips. They will always use a rag as a true buffer. Save you money
Overall, not a great product. Comes with replacement tips but the they tear easily and don't grip as well as they should. Told easily slid off, never grip correctly and rip easily!
Never received
Cant review a product i didnt receive. No delivery photo. (Of course) theres a link for a picturea but no picture. Called Lowes. I have to wait 24 hrs FOR A PHONE CALL- not my refund or product replacement. Paid extra for delivery. Could have it shipped for free if i wanted to wait a week. If no call 2 morrow- Im disputing the charge
Could be better.
It has a place, just not enough grip to do most jobs. It slipped on me enough that I just gave up on using them and went to another tool.
Got the job done, but...
Nice that "soft jaw" covers were included(2 pair). The covers slip off of the item very easily. Would recommend something with a "fixed soft jaw" feature if you need this feature frequently. Otherwise, item works as intended.
Soft Grips Really Work!
I don't own many tools, so I was very happy to receive these Kobalt Soft Jaw Pliers. I often need to use pliers to get things open or apart, and I hate how typical pliers can scratch or leave marks behind. These soft jaw pliers allowed me to obtain a really tight grip without leaving a single scratch or mark behind. I was able to get the shower head off by hand, when I used the jaw pliers it kept on slipping.
Uniquely worthless
The rubber jaw cover comes off from shaking it, so imagine cranking on something with them. Also, the cover comes off in the direction of torquing, so it doesn't stand a chance of staying on. The rubber was cut through to the metal the first time I used it, so the metal made contact anyway.
Soft jaws are slick, no grip
The caps are made of hard, slippery plastic and provide absolutely no grip whatsoever. I tried to use it to loosen the trim of my shower valve and it just slipped off whatever I tried to grab with it. Useless. Returned it.
It works.
This item was just the tool I needed to tighten my sink drain.
