I’ve had 2 of these and they are total junk. Won’t hold a setting. Constantly goes to error. You have to wait for it to clear out or remove the batteries and reinstall . If you need to cut it off and start it back up you can’t 4 small 0 err code comes up and won’t clear out. I’ve got a 40 year old craftsman torque wrench that I have to use and it’s accurate

Will Not Calibrate
Bad torque. Was doing suspension work on daughter's car, just seemed like wrong torque, grabbed my kobalt click type torque wrench I was right, digital was off by a few ft lbs. When selling a tool such as a torque wrench accuracy is important ! All my tools are Kobalt so hate to leave a neg review !

Battery cap is a fail
I like the wrench. Bought it for doing head gaskets that require degrees so i wouldnt have to use dial gauges. Used it about 5 times. Always have taken the batteries out when done with it. The last time i used it i went to remove the batteries and barely turning the cap one of the ears that retains it in place just snapped off. Cant find a replacement part number for the cap. Now i have basically a brand new digital tq paperweight that for the cost is a joke.

Gears Stripped at 80Ft-lbs
I was gifted this torque wrench without a receipt. I used it 5 times for values under 100Ft-Lbs. The fifth time broke the gears in the head. Come to find out Lowes does not have replacement gears as they do the battery caps and appear to not carry any digital torque wrenches anymore at my locations.

Just don't buy this!!!
The one year warranty that this comes with is not worth the money spent in the wrench. Of course, its better priced than snap on but its still expensive for a paper weight. The battery cap is the fail point for mine, and I was unable to find a way to make it work. I have tons of kobalt tools this being the most expensive other than an air compressor and I will be not spending money on tools that are at lowes that do not have a warranty or some form of repair at a lesser than new cost.
Hi Andy, please call our customer service team to replace the battery cap - the new one will have a stronger spring that allows it to pop out. They ...

Works great at first but does not last.
I bought this torque wrench to do a timing belt change on my wife's Honda Pilot (I have now done two, she's on her second Pilot). I like that fact that it would do 250 ft. lbs. and that it would do degrees of rotation. I also torque my trucks lug nuts to 140 fl. lbs when I have removed a wheel for maintenance.. I have used this wrench less than 10 times and now the ratchet slips which is pretty dangerous when trying to torque lug nuts to 140 ft. lbs. It has started slipping. I have taken the rat...

Great addition to my box
For anyone worried about bad reviews, this appears to be a slightly updated model from the old one #80719. The only changes are that the previous awful battery cover has been changed to a simple and reliable threaded cap that simply twists out with a screwdriver or hex wrench, and it now comes with an open top tray instead of a plastic latching case. My only gripe about this tool is that there needs to be a separate button for switching to angle mode. Any time you are cycling through different t...
Thank you for pointing out the updated battery cap. It was indeed updated due to the number of comments about the prior style.

Calibration
I work for a ISO 17025 Certified calibration laboratory. Can you please provide the button sequence to re-calibrate this torque wrench? There is nothing listed in the manual, the store was not able to help and 1-888-3KOBALT did not have access to answer this question. If this wrench cannot be calibrated. Than do not sell it.
Hi calcompany, the torque wrench can be calibrated but there is no button sequence to do so.

Worst battery compartment design ever
Do not buy this tool. Battery cover is everything on this tool as the negative end is on the cap. The tool does not work without power. Perhaps some are manufactured a bit worse than others to make the tool completely un-useable, thus the folks who have actually been able to use the tool may actually have some feedback when it is actually working. The one I purchased has hardly any nubs on the battery cover screw to screw back in on, thus the cap will not stay on with batteries in it. Of course ...
The battery cover has been redesigned and can be obtained by calling our customer service department at 888-3KOBALT (356-2258). At the first prompt,...

Terrible for setting torque or checking torque
To set torque, it starts beeping at 90% torque, then provides a steady tone at 100% torque. There is no click or vibration. I've tried several times to slowly apply torque past the 90% signal until the steady tone is heard, but doing so on the same bolt, I've broken torque 3x in a row until the steady beep sounded. I've never had something like that before with a torque wrench. I don't trust this at all, especially with delicate torque settings where you need to be sure not to over torque someth...
