What Customers Are Saying
The cordless die grinder is praised for its power, smoothness, and balance, making it suitable for a variety of tasks like grinding, polishing, and sharpening. Customers appreciate the cordless convenience and long battery life, though some note the tool can drain batteries quickly, especially at high speeds. While generally considered a good value, a few users experienced issues with overheating or locking up.

This thing is BIG. I was expecting something along the lines of a cordless dremel. That is not what this is. It also has a 1/4” collet unlike Dremels 1/8” collet so you wont be able to use your dremel attachments. This is mare like an angle grinder sans the angle. Until Kobalt released this tool I was not even aware that other manufactuers offered this tool, but they do and theirs are large as well. This will be very useful for projects like sharpening mower blades and automotive exhaust project...
Quiet, smooth, powerful
I just used this grinder to enlarge and shape some holes in 16 gauge steel. The grinder itself is very smooth and quiet while running. The noise of the die grinding against the metal is obviously loud. The grinder has plenty of power and used very little battery. The 4ah battery was still at 3 bars after about 15 minutes of actual grinding. The tool itself remained cool during use.

Capable, but a lot of money.
Little use so far, but it is powerful and the adjustable speeds are nice. The switch is a little goofy to use compared to something like a paddle or trigger (or most any other power tool switch), but it is fine. To be fair, I would probably get it only 4 stars had it not been on sale for 75% off. It’s original price was just a lot of money for a “good” tool. Honestly for the same money you could buy the basic Angle Grinder and, separately, a small 110v rotary tool and have a more versatile pair ...

Great way to clean up welds
This thing is pretty cool. It's hefty but balanced at the handle. I have lots of Kobalt tools so I wanted to use the batteries I already had. This thing chews through welds with the TC bits I got separately. The 1/4 inch collet allows for bits like counter sinks for wood screws and a sharpening bit for lawnmower blades where a smaller 1/8 bit collet tool just takes a lot more time.
BEST and most AFFORDABLE die grinder I’ve used!
Out of all the powered and cordless die grinders I’ve used this one has got to be the best. Great weight and feel in the handle with 3 different speeds for maximum control on whatever job. I work on cars and can’t say how many times it has come in handy. More power then my powered one and the battery life is incredible and you could buy an even BIGGER one if you needed too. I can even make precision cuts with it and leave every job looking professional and clean.
great die grinder
Die grinders help you grind and polish inside cavities where a traditional grinder/polisher can non reach. The 24v kobalt is powerful, has 3 speeds and a convenient shaft lock which simplifies collet tightening and removal. Like most modern cordless tools it has an array of useful LED lights which illuminate the work area. The tool is sold bare. Batteries, charger and bags are not included. I have no complaints.
Great tool!
This thing definitely has the power to do the job, but I do wish it had a side handle or something that could be added/removed in certain situations to help with stability. Otherwise, this tool is awesome overall - and what a steal at the sale price!

Output shaft gets Hot!
Don't know if I would recommend this. After running for about a minute the output shaft got too hot to keep my finger on it. I just let the grinder run at high speed with no load on it, I find this worrisome. Maybe they forgot to put lube in the transmission. Has anyone found this problem? In the video the temp goes up to 59deg C or 138deg F

Great tool, can’t go wrong with Kobalt tools.
Really like the heft and power of this tool. Right out of the box it seems very forward heavy but when the battery (especially the 4.0 amp/hr) is added it balances itself very nice. Really like the rubber components of the tool, easy to clean.
Shank overheats
I was given this as a gift. It feels powerful but after leaving it running for 30 seconds with no load the shank becomes barely untouchable. There is a similar review here and a youtube video saying the same thing (not sure if they came from the same user). They could be normal but I don't feel comfortable putting it to real use.
