Kobalt 20-Gal Compressor and 18-CT Compressor Accessory Kit

CRAPPED OUT

This compressor was LOUD and crapped out after only 2 years of light use. Will not buy again. My old off-brand compressor from Harbor Freight lasted over 10 years and my smaller Craftsman compressor from 1986 is still going. I thought Kobalt was a quality product - WRONG!

Not depndable

First one a bought broke down within 2 weeks of use. Lowes replaced it with same model . Just after the warranty ran out .. 1yr Motor failed . Will never buy Kobalt again.

Keep looking

It’s loud and takes forever to fill the tank. If you are running an air brush or a nail gun it might be the one for you.

Reasonably priced

Being in construction, i am used to these upright compressors. Most of ours are a little bigger around the 26 and 30 gallon models. Surprisingly, it is alot easier to load into a covered work trailer. The sound decibels are what i am accustomed to. There are quieter ones on the market but if i'm working in a large area or another room, the sound hasn't bothered me. It seems to take longer to fill the tank compared to our other air compressors. Disposable product- DO NOT BUY

I bought this air compressor because I felt it was a decent brand that would last. I got the 20 Gallon one because I felt it would do anything that I needed, but have only used it to air tires up and blow off the driveway on occasion. After 11 months I noticed it had trouble cutting off when it reached the right pressure and started leaking air. It finally just would not stop running so I decided to take it back to the store. Constantly fixing this thing

These are JUNK. The unit constantly rattles something loose. First the air exhaust copper tube. I fixed this at least three times. They rattle loose and break. Replacement parts? Forget it. Had to construct my own, bend it into shape and flange it myself. You can NOT reuse the old one. The pressure is high enough that the copper tube expands ever so slightly and they will no longer fit standard fittings. Next, the compressor piston mounting bolts. Worked great... but only for a short time..

I purchased one of these back in 2020 and kept it in the garage. I'm a home owner and a DYI'er... NOT a contractor who uses the compressor daily. Shortly after a year of ownership, I started having issues with the compressor. Lucky for me that I became "acquaintances" with a few of the employees at the local Lowes and I was able to have my compressor exchanged at no charge for a new one. Fairly loud.

So far, so good. I replaced a slightly larger Kobalt unit that failed under warranty. The previous unit had “Quiet Technology” that does not appear to be available at this time. The new unit is much louder than the previous one, thus the 4 out of 5 rating.
