Not good!

I purchased 5 of these things at the end of July, 2025. I regret the purchase. They were intended to replace NEST PROTECTS that had reached their end of life, I have the APP and only found out how to connect the devices to the APP after they were installed. Don't lose the papers that come with these because you need the QR mark to connect them to the app without climbing back up on a ladder. Good idea, poor execution

Was super excited about this as plug and play for the expired nest protects but the problems started right away. Upon unboxing, the instructions point you to the wrong app. During the installation of one of them, it didn't register properly and I had to call customer service to de-register the unit and register again which was a whole process that involved phone and email. Easily compatible with existing Nest detectors.

I like that it is compatible with my existing Nest detectors. I was even able to use the Nest base plate that was already installed. The device was fairly easy to set up. As usual, it was challenge to connect with Wi-Fi. I thought I was successful but a few hours later was told it was offline. Had to do a reset.

Lot's of room for improvement

I was looking for a replacement for my existing smoke detectors and decided to give this one a go. My primary needs were: 1. I wanted to be able to pause an alert from my phone. False alarms

goes off for no known reason

had 3, they just go off randomly and I had to stand on chair to take down and get battery out inorder to shut off. Thought maybe I bought bad batteries, nope did it with next new batch too. 🤷

Faulty Alarms

We put these through our entire new house. We had our first one, stating that there was smoke in the house as we were all sitting there. It would continue to malfunction randomly. The last incident at 2 am in the morning. We replaced that one and 2 weeks later we had another one do the exact same thing. That is 2 alarms out of 5 that have malfunctioned in 3 months. Terrible Experience

I own a small inn. I bought five of these to replace some of the Nest units in my inn that were expiring, as Google recommends. I urge you not to buy this product. In the past three months, I have had four false alarms, including one that woke up all my guests at 4 a.m. I don't have any issues with the Nest products that remain in service. Okay Replacement Option for Nest But a Downgrade

Recently purchased several of these First Alert Battery-Operated Smoke and CO2 Detectors to replace my expiring Nest Protect Smoke/C02 Detectors, which had worked with no issues for 10 years using the Nest App and more recently the Google Home App. These First Alert detectors are currently the best option if you want a smart smoke/C02 detector similar to the discontinued Nest detectors, but in my opinion the First Alert detectors fall short and are a downgrade especially given the price poin...
