Beautiful decking - use slim clips

We used these boards on a small deck 3 years ago, and it still looks new. For that deck, I used Grip-Rite #9 composite deck screws, two at each joist point, predrilled to prevent mushrooming. This year, we used these boards again when we rebuilt our larger main deck. I tried the Trex hidden clips, but the gap looked too big. So I used Fiberon ArmorGuard EDGE Hidden Deck Clips, which are 3/16 wide. BUT on these boards, they resulted in a 1/4" gap at the top, even though the clips are jammed ...

Great decking but needs smaller clips

This decking looks fantastic and is a great price. I highly recommend it. However, the boards I used are wider below the slot than above it. Profile pictures are attached of a piece I cut off. You can see the bottom out a little farther than the top. This means the visible gap on top will be wider than the hidden clip width. I used slightly narrower hidden clips and it all looks great.

warps if exposed to sun

As others have noted it does scuff a lot easier than I would have expected. Thats not my main concern though. I used this decking to build a floating deck in my backyard. The area gets direct sunlight for a good 4-5 hours in the summer. After just two seasons I am seeing visible warping in some of the boards. Great decking with one major con

The decking is beautiful and easy to work with. But to me it does have one con. When laying this around the edge of the deck, it cant overhang due to the grooves in the bottom of the board. The 8’ solid edge boards should be solid on the bottom so they can be used in this manner. I put 3/4” fascia board under the overhanging boards but this will not add enough support. Composite decking

Expensive for a Trex knockoff, But it does the job. Dont like the look of the board ends. Other manufacturers have caps that fit over the ends. Decorators does not have caps, went on their website.

Beautiful and easy to Install

I chose to spend extra money and buy these composite deck boards for our house’s front and side entrances instead of using wood boards. I was looking for composite boards that matched the stain of our other decks and had a nice texture to them so they wouldn’t be slippery. This product is perfect! Don’t waste your money

Our deck has been installed for only one year. Though it is a beautiful look, I noticed that they shrink considerably in the cold which resulted in the ends popping out of the fasteners. I also noticed many gouges that were not there when installed and in areas where no furniture is at. The boards also moved initially when installed so screws had to be put in on the ends. Maybe consider running joists less then 16”

Overall the deck turned out fine but the way these deck boards are designed are the reason I only gave 3 stars. They are not two sided boards like other manufacturers. They are grooved out on the bottom and have two sections that are fairly thin. This presented some challenges during the installation process. We installed the joists 16’ on center and they do seem a bit soft when you step in the middle between two joists.

Installation going well

Halfway through installation on a deck resurfacing. Using a combination of 12 and 16 ft boards. They cut and fit well together, the surface material has held up to scraping, dragging, banging. Since this is on an existing deck, things aren't always perfectly square. These have just enough flex to fit. My old deck had 24" joists, you will want to add joists to make 12"- 16" spans, otherwise it will flex when you step on it. Will update after winter when they will be covered in maple leaves. Cut Joints are starting to swell after 2 seasons.

This has been a great product up until the snow melt this spring. The cut joins, (boards that were cut to proper length or corrections made to square the board prior to installation) have started to swell all within 1" of the cut. No reference to any type of sealing requirement in the installation documentation. This effect appears to be consistant across the entire deck, Not certain how another winter will impact this product and at 1500 sft of decking I am very concerned.
