Only had this cordless model a short time and honestly haven’t put it through too much of a workout. I can say it is obviously nice going from a corded to a cordless orbital. Got the job DONE
This was a rushed purchase for me. I found myself in the field with no power source or compressed air and a need to get a lot of surfaces abraded by end of day. I own several Dewalt products so utilizing a tool with the same battery system seemed like the best idea. Ergonomically, it fit well in my hand which resulted in less fatigue by the end of the day, and the battery life was surprisingly long. Fewer battery changes = fewer trips up and down the ladder. I’m glad I made the purchase.

Easy to use
This is the first battery powered sander owned and have been impressed how easy to use and don't have to fuss with an electric cord. I generally use XR 20 volt 3-5 AMP batteries and the run times before recharging is surprising good. Don't know if the variable speed option is a key feature because I normally only use the max speed setting. Appears to be quality made and hope it out last several corded sanders I owned.

Handy sander but beware the dust
I really like the light weight and portability of the sander, and it does a great job for its size. My only complaint is that the dust collection bag is just about worthless. Only about 10% of the dust goes into the bag. I bought an attachment for it to work with my shopvac, but even with it I only get about 30% of the dust. Its better to just have a hose nearby to grab the dust as it falls then to attach the hose to the machine.

I bought this for my son. The price was marked down about $30. It was a good deal. Unfortunately, it did not qualify for the free tool with purchase of batteries. Also, they were out of DeWalt batteries on sale. Not unexpected as we did not camp out in the parking lot. :=D I have one of these sanders and have used it on refinishing an outdoor bench.
