These ClosetMaid units are not realistically paintable without specialty bonding primers and significant prep. Standard primers (including shellac-based) failed due to surface repellency. Do not buy assuming you can easily repaint to match trim. I'm giving 2 stars begrudgingly at this point - because they are relatively easy to put together and fit in my space nicely, allowing me to save >$1500 as opposed to a professionally installed system. The ClosetMaid Modular Storage system looks great and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Installation was straightforward. The only real downside is the material: they’re made of particle board rather than MDF. While they still look good and function well, MDF would have felt more durable and higher-end. That said, for the price and overall appearance, these doors are a solid choice and definitely elevate the look of a modular closet setup.

Pretty shoe closet

It took me and my 11 year old around 2 hours to assemble granted I'm not the handiest person. Great for certain things
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I realize this ClosetMaid shelf is designed to be used in a closet, but it can absolutely stand alone as sort of a mini bookshelf or in our case, a very stylish shoe rack! I love the smaller size and how easy it was to build. It took about 30 minutes, which is not bad for something with so many pieces. Once I got the frame, everything fell into place quickly. Nice but could have thicker boards.
Nice product except I wish the particle board was thicker. The screws push out the sides in a few spots and is unsightly.

Horrible shelves

Sturdy shelf for bags
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is probably the easiest thing I’ve put together in a long. Directions were pretty clear took me maybe an hour. I love the versatility you can add more shelves and take some away. I used this to store my bags and I will be purchasing another. The shelf is sturdy and the boards do not seem cheap. I hope it lasts a while.
