What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise this timber oil for delivering rich, beautiful color that enhances natural wood grain while providing outstanding weather protection. Reviewers consistently note it soaks in smoothly, often requiring just one coat, and resists fading and water damage for years with reapplication every two years. Many highlight exceptional durability in harsh climates and easy application with brushes or rollers. A small group reports inconsistent results on pressure-treated wood or premature fading, though most consider it a reliable, long-lasting choice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For reference I did not use this product in a traditional manner. I used this deck stain to finish a singular shelf. An orbital sander was used to prep the wood the and the Cabot Australian Timber Oil to finish it. It claims to be a one and done product (needing only one coat) but I didn't find that this was the case for my project. It ended up being very difficult to get an even coat across the board with a sponge applicator. It took at leas...

A must need for your porch ✨✨
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] ⭐ Great for bringing wood back to life! I really liked using Cabot Australian Timber Oil because it helps enhance the natural beauty of outdoor wood. It gives the surface a rich, refreshed look while adding protection against weather and everyday outdoor exposure. The application was easy, and I love how it brings out the wood grain instead of covering it up. It’s a great option for decks, fences, outdoor furniture, and other wood projects tha...

Covers and moisturizes
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received free product to sample and it really worked great! Fence is a few years old, turning gray. Husband applied very easily with a sprayer. Project was done in no time. Sprayed on thick and smelled kind of fumey like oil based. I was really surprised by the color change. It completely covered the gray, looks like it moisturized wood. I think it will last many years and probably look better when it starts to wear out...I would definitely ...

Rich, long-lasting protection!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m very impressed with Cabot® Australian Timber Oil! I brought my weathered wood back to life with a rich, natural-looking finish that really enhanced the wood grain. It was easy to apply, absorbed well, and left the surface looking refreshed without appearing overly glossy. The color is beautiful, and the wood looks well-protected against the elements. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to restore and protect outdoor wood sur...

Promptly address streaks
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The application process was largely straightforward; however, it is crucial to promptly address any streaks to avoid visible lines. The color is appealing, although I had anticipated a darker shade. Nevertheless, I am satisfied with the outcome. I have additional shelving units to complete and am also exploring the possibility of staining the patio support columns.

Excellent stain and protectant for wooden decks
I have found Cabot deck stain to be one of the best in the market for longevity on my deck. I built my deck 24 years ago and have maintained it with Cabot deck stain during most of its life. I did have to smooth the deck surface this year before staining but only because I waited too many years between applications. I get about 3 years between applications. The wood is still sound and expect it to last many more years. This stain goes on easy with sprayer, brush, or roller. It adheres good...

Easy to apply & clean up!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Cabot Australian Timber Oil on an untreated weathered 2 year old fence. Aside from using a stiff brush to get rid of any dirt, I did zero prep work. I applied using a wiz roller and brush. The product went on smooth and soaked into the wood on contact, with low to no odor. Coverage was even, and left no brush or mini-roller marks. Dried quick (75degrees at time of use) I used an entire gallon on just one section of fence, only 1 coat (d...

A little goes a long way. Color name is off.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Can was a little tricky to get into. Scent wasn’t bad at all for a wood stain. This stuff penetrated the already treated plywood & 2x4s like a dream. The color changed as it set. I wouldn’t call it a brown like the label suggests. 1 coat seemed to do what I wanted. I used very little product so I may go back over with another coat. We are going to redo some steps and decking and I’ll definitely be using this product. My daughter helped me with...

Deck stain
I believe the label says that it covers 400-600 sq ft. The deck I stained was approximately 350 sq ft so i bought 1 gallon. The deck was recently power washed and had needed to be re-stained for a long time. This stain is extremely thin and penetrates very quickly. Short version is 2 additional trips to lowes for more stain. Lowes is a 45 minute round trip from this deck. Took more time and expense than i anticipated. But the deck looks very nice.

Can't wait to do some some more wood projects with this!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently used Cabot Australian Timber Oil on my outdoor wood project, and the results exceeded my expectations. The oil penetrated the wood deeply and really enhanced the natural grain, bringing out rich color and giving the wood a refreshed appearance without looking overly glossy. Application was straightforward with a brush, and it spread evenly with good coverage. After drying, the finish felt durable and provided excellent water resistan...
