Like most, I found this to be awkward and clunky to use. AC line detect is a bad, misleading feature. Well-intended but it just isn't reliable. Too many false positive readings. It does, however, seem to locate stud centers. I prefer my old one which finds stud edges and has no AC detect. And the whole deal with the marking button to create a small depression may be convenient for some but there's nothing like a notch or something that allows a pencil mark. Worked at first

I bought one of these about 2 years ago and it worked fine. It was my first time ever using a stud finder and I mounted my then 50' TV [now upgraded to 55'] and it did its job because it hasn't fallen to this day. A bit confusing compared to what I've seen from other brands but it got the job done. This stud finder if used properly literally shows you center every time. It even tells you if you go the left or the right a little too much. Put the stud finder up against the wall and hold the power button for a minute. Then slowly move the stud finder left or right until it detects a stud. I don’t know where to start with this thing. It’s gotta be one of the most poorly designed electronic devices I’ve ever used. The button placement is terrible and requires you to keep the button pressed but since it’s in the center it becomes a chore after a while. I thought " Oh cant go wrong with Craftsman quality". Well with this product you can. I don't know if it's just cheaply made and Craftsman slapped their brand on it or if Craftsmen even performed tests on this stud finder. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this with the intent of hanging drapes, and I needed to find the studs on either side of the window. It worked perfectly through my paneling, and made it so easy to know where to nail. I'm a 49 year old female, and this was a lifesaver for me. Detects Electrical Everywhere

My previous stud finder, a Zircon, had the battery explode after years of reliable use, so I picked up this Craftsman (a name that used to mean something, by the way). Inconsistent-Inaccurate-Avoid

Beware-lot's of bunk reviews or paid promotion reviews. Read, you will see a paragraph of nothing with [promotional review] or something similar at the end. No actual product use details.
