What Customers Are Saying
The tomato plant is widely praised for its high productivity, producing an abundant yield of delicious, medium-sized tomatoes that are great for a variety of uses. Customers report the plants are easy to grow, with healthy, robust foliage that stands up well to staking. Many reviewers note the tomatoes have a good balance of sweetness and acidity, with a firm, juicy texture. While a few customers found the flavor a bit bland, the overwhelming consensus is that the plant is a fantastic variety that delivers exceptional results with minimal effort.

I bought this tomato variety for the first time 2025. Fantastic quantity of fruit, no blossom rot like my Roma or Patio tomato. Will get more plants next year.

High Productivity, Bland Flavor
Grew this last year (2022) and it constantly produced a huge crop of 2"- 3.5" of fruit up until frost in late October. Although with a firm texture, every fruit was quite bland in flavor with very little sugar/acid balance. So give it a "5" for production but a "2" for flavor. That ends up being a mid-scale 3 in my rating. I got one plant for this year's season, so will see if things change. Otherwise, I'm done with this "Original." By the way, we live at 5000' elevation in the high desert area...

Healthy, Hearty Bonnie Original Tomato Plant
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my Bonnie Original Tomato Plant a few weeks ago. When the plant arrived, I was super impressed because the plant came packaged so perfectly that my plant couldn’t have looked any better upon arrival. I was also impressed on the size of the plant that I received. Soon after receiving my plant, I repotted it in a larger size pot and I have my Bonnie Original Tomato Plant on my front porch in full sun. It is thriving! Unfortunately, it ...

Amazing Tomato Plant
I bought this tomato in the spring of 2020 and had tomatoes all summer and most of the winter also (zone10a). As the plant died back in late winter I pruned the dead branches a few at a time. To my amazement this plant has re-incarnated itself and is loaded with tomatoes again. I have grown tomatoes like forever and have never had a plant do this. It stands about 6 feet tall now and is supported by a heavy wire cage. I find that the bees do poor job of pollinating for some reason, they seem t...

Great packaging!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Bonnie Original Tomato as a live plant shipped to my house. It came packaged in a tall breathable plastic container. It was about six inches tall. I immediately planted it in my raised garden along with other tomato plants. I dug down about three inches in my potting soil to give it room to grow. I keep it in a well sunlit place. I have been watering it everyday that it doesn't rain. I can't wait for the tomatoes to begin growing he...

Tomato arrival
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The plant arrived safely as it was packaged nicely. No broken limbs and it was alive. We planted it within 2 days of arriving. The plant grow really nice along side our other plants. It was nice and healthy and lots of flowers which grew into tomatoes. We managed to get several off the plant. The plant survived until blight got to it while we were on holiday.

Great Packing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a Bonnie Original tomato plant for testing and review and comparison to the Big Beef tomato and Roma tomato samples after growing. All the plants arrived in very good condition with moulded plastic containers surrounding each pot to protect them during shipping. The four containers fill the shipping box to minimize movement and protect the pots. All of the plants were intact and healthy ready to plant.

Blossom End Rot
The Bonnie Original grew fast but would drop its flower buds. Plant finally started setting fruit, began to ripping, but all...ALL fruit has BNR. Plant was watered everyday, plenty of sun, and feed Miracle-Grow tomato plant food. Fruit is smaller than what I thought they would be. Between my grandfather, father and myself, we've had a garden since the 1930's.

Good looking promising tomato plant
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Bonnie Original Tomato plant is about the same size as their Big Beef Tomato plant I also planted so I'm expecting great tomatoes - soon. It arrived so well packed that I just knew it had been very well cared for. From experience I know how difficult it is to start and get plants to this condition so I'm glad Bonnie Plants is there.
