Would Not RecommendI am now changing the gas valve on this AO Smith tank 6 months after replacing my Rheem tank. I could not control the water temperature. I had it set between low and vacation mode. The temperature was 150 degrees (scalding). They sent me a new valve, I installed it but it is still hard to get the temperature to a steady 120. It fluctuates to much. Would RecommendI replaced a 50 gallon Bradford White Power vent with the AO Smith 50 Gallon 500 series. Installation was a little difficult because of the placement or the power vent. Unit works well and hope it last longer than my previous one.

Would Not RecommendI purchased and installed this water heater in my basement. I installed a new pressure relief valve on my water line and added a new thermal expansion tank. Installation was straightforward and the unit fired up just fine. But on the first heating cycle, the factory installed inlet nipple started leaking from where it attaches to the tank. Built to last, hopefully
Would RecommendI've had the water heater for only a month and so far it's been working really well. So well that I had to turn down the thermostat this morning because the water was so hot so fast. However, what's noteworthy is the brand's reliability. My previous water heater, that was the same brand, lasted thirty-two years before needing to be replaced. Yes, that's three decades and two years. I think that may be a record.
