Would Not RecommendReplaced a Rheem unit. Fit the same. The control function are very good. There has been a metal taste a burning metal smell on hot water only. Otherwise it seems to be a decent unit

Easy for a do-it-yourself install
Would RecommendIt was very easy to install, and only took me about an hour to remove the old one and install the new one. Lighting the pilot light was a little trickier, but only because it took some time to get the gas through the line to the pilot. The instructions warned that it might take a few attempts to get it lit, and they were right.

Impossible To Replace Anode
Would Not RecommendI purchased an A.O. Smith Signature 100 (50-gal) from Lowe’s and the experience was unacceptable. On installation we discovered the factory anode rod was torqued/seized so tightly it could not be removed by any reasonable means (breaker bar, impact wrench, penetrating oil, heat). The stuck anode prevented us from installing a proper titanium/powered anode to prevent internal corrosion — the very maintenance step recommended for extending tank life.
